Trev Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 He must of known it was going to be wrong. You could just re-pin it. Quote
Trev Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 You need an AE86 JDM sprinter ECU for the uprated KW and rev cut, I'm honestly not sure if the AE92 one you have there is the same deal. Plug it in and see how it goes. 92 one won't work. Quote
Johno Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 Nah i'll just try and sell it. I didnt even know that ae92 came out with tvis. :bash: So umm... what would happen if i plug it in, will i damage anything? Quote
beerhead Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 yep, definitely no good, I'll post up the pin comparisons in a tic, that thing is semi sequential, 2 banks of injectors, the bigport is batch fire. I doubt the CAS will even send the right signal to the ecu Quote
Johno Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 Its all good brad, thank for your help. :bash: Trev and Brad, you helped me out heaps, thankyou :bash: I'll just keep looking for a propper ae86 one. Quote
beerhead Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Not a hope. He has to give you a refund. You came in asking for an AE82 ecu and he said try this it may work. Just tell him you're within your report him to fair trading for fraudulent activity if he doesn't remedy the situation. He was the engine importer and therefore should be the person that knows what should work with what. If he wasn't sure it would work he shouldn't have sold it to you. Quote

Why I reckon he just wanted to offload it for a quick buck. Quote

Thanks mate, just looking at the pinouts for the ae92, it doesnt have half the things on the ecu as what the diagram says. THe ecu i have is identical to the ae82 one apart from the 2 little pinout things i pointed out, :bash: I think the diagram you posted up is for the smallport with afm, I got the tvis one.. I'm want to plug it in and find out what happens or will i blow the timing out to kingdom come? or will it not start Quote
Trev Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 It won't start or it will run on 2 cylinders, Either way the ECU will most likely not like it. Quote
Johno Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 Fair enough :bash: I'm going to try and take it back and get a refund. Brad is right, i came in asking for a ecu and he said this one will work, it doesnt so i want my money back. Quote

Johno Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 Well.. I went back there today and took both my ADM and JDM ecu's and told him about the different pin outs, He said Show me and handed me a screwdriver. So i opened both cases and pointed out the problem on both. "It will run, trust me, just plug it in".. (then a small debate about 92's and 82's) Went home, plugged it in and a very nervous few seconds later I started it and well, It works! :bash: Took it for a quick fang around the block and its not really faster but there is a difference, Its more responsive and a bit different. Its hard to explain but its still cold too so i didn't go that hard to try it out. I guess the dyno will tell though. I'm going to eat some humble pie now :bash: Quote

The responsiveness you see is probably from the ecu being clear, Your old one probably had faults in it, look forward to the dyno. Quote
Johno Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 (edited) See it and beleive it.. I don't know how it works either :bash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ovG-oX8DSI The 92 ECU that i have was nothing like the ecu graph that beerhead posted up though. Edit: Just went for a better drive, got a massive smile which i can't wipe off, it picks up so much better and waaaaay more responsive. :bash: Edited May 5, 2010 by Johno Quote

Even then the pins are different. With the old ecu did it use to cold start at 2000? Quote
