SLW42 Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 FARK YEAH that is mad progress man how long did it take you to get it to that stage man, not a big fan of 18's under the guards they just look way to big for the car but it's yours not mine so yeah i'll shut up now Quote
DR 16V Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Posted April 18, 2010 (edited) Thanks mate took 2 years to get to this stage lol as i have done everything myself was only suspose to take 4 months max but had so many problems with the body and had to redo things like 2 3 times ova coz was tryin to rush it and just wasnt happy with it. Yea not many people are a fan on the rims but i always luv big rims and dropped on the ass cars mayb they will look alil better when i clean and paint them black and polish the spokes My other project is a ae82 hatch and i put 20's on that so yea just like big rims i guess but this project was just suspose to be a sorta daily but realised how much work had to be done might aswel put alil more effort and add extras Edited April 18, 2010 by DR 16V Quote
twisted2 Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 very impressive work can't wait see pics when all finnished Quote
Sam_Q Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 only 2 years? to me for this amount of work is very quick indeed. This is a really interesting project and when I read chop roof off and put another on one I was thinking WTF!? your dedicated I tell you that. So whats the plans from here? Also how does the air bag compressor get its motion from? is it mounted on the engine or is it electric? Future plans? As time goes on I am having more and more respect for the early celica guys as the seem to be interested and prepared to have something nice and functional even if it does means spending some money. Much unlike another certain group of car guys who seem to all to eager to hap-hazardly "upgrade" their cars suspension and engine with the least amount of cash so they can slide their cars sideways into something solid. Undertaker_is_the_best Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 hell yea i love this project been working on my own celica now since October last year and well i am satisfied at the way its turning out but i don't have a huge timeline kinda need it done within this year lol Quote
Sam_Q Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 hey I forgot to ask, what model T series diff is that Quote
DR 16V Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Posted April 18, 2010 Thanks guys yea alot of work has gone into this baby pics can't really tell the work i have done most of it body wise the was alot of rust and every panel had something wrong with it. But in my eyes all the money and time will be well worth it. The old guy i brought it off said it ran a 12.9 down the qauter before he rebuild it not sure about this but i know the thing pulls hard and gotta luv the locker diff sideways for the win as u can see in the video at the top slides pretty easy tho it aint a drag car its got balls and should be alot of fun on the street compressor is electric got the kit from the USA as a plug in n play kit As for plans mayb a supercharger on the cards, also gunna try n get it lower, waitin on custom gauges and yea basically once its done crusie it take it to some shows and just have some fun Not sure what series the diff is had alot of problem tryin to find out what the old rotors where off as when i got it 1 side was completly smashed and had to get new slotted 1's But yea this is my first celica and neva really knew much about them i could tell u everything of say a 13b or a 4age but yea I'm mainly just a bodywork/alrounder sort of guy just give anything a go don't look much into it Quote
Sam_Q Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 I might be able to help you with a rack and pinion steering conversion in the future too. I also am still learning about the T engines, I found there is a lot ot be gained after I ported one for a friend. I see no way that your friend was doing anything but severly exagerating though, I think high 14s would be more likely. Quote
DR 16V Posted April 18, 2010 Author Report Posted April 18, 2010 yea i may be intressed later on yea i doubt it as well mayb if it was turbo but yea the guy i brought it off was like 50 odd and thats what he said but yea 14 would be more correct mayb a 15 now with all this weight added and the airbag set-up ;) i wanna get it on the dyno soon just for abit of fun probarly will wait for the next toymods dyno day 100kw be about right u reckon? not sure what they pull out stock Quote
Sam_Q Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 anythign from 60 to 140kw depends on the dyno, some are very generous Quote
