Hi everyone,

My name is Gordon MacK, I've been in the car and drift scene in Victoria, Aus for quite some time now. My mate decided that his first car wasn't good enough for him and I took it off his hands. I already own an FC RX7 with 350rwhp, I'm aiming for the little Rolla to have 100-150rwhp by the time I'm finished modifying it.

I'd like to know absolutely everything about this car, anything you can tell me from the photos would be great.

I'm currently buying parts to get her road worthy, once she's on the road she will be modified to be driftable. As all early Rollas are meant to be lol.

Anyway, the pics:

To do:

Fit passenger front quarter.

Fit passenger front indicator.

Fit passenger front headlight surround.

Fit passenger parker lense.

Give the engine a full service.

Replace wheels with bigger steelies and RW tires.

Repair headlight wiring to make headlights function.

Replace battery terminals and repair wiring.

Replace battery.

Fit battery holder.

Replace spotlights with JDM as f@$k yellow spotties.

Replace steering column surround.

Replace all 4 doors to eliminate rust.

Cut out wheel arches and fit wide over fenders.

Cut out and weld rust in boot floor.

Replace boot lid to eliminate rust.

Tighten handbrake cable.

Replace brake pads.

Remove plastic inner guards.

Detail entire car.

Paint car gloss black. (Would be matte, but has to be gloss for RW)

Replace rear bumper mounts.

Fit rear bumper.

Replace differential center with a non-clunking item.

Replace shocks and springs with performance items.

Replace all water seals.

To do later:

Fit spare 4AC or possibly buy a big port 4AGE 16-valve.

Have the bands on the new steelies widened.

Lock diff.

Install a straight through exhaust.

Install a cold air intake.

Install a surge tank.

Replace clock gauge cluster with a tacho cluster.

More to come.

Haha, it's a POV box. Give it time, all of the shit parts will be replaced.

I quite fancy this thing, I realise that it's f@$ked but I'm going to bring it back to the glory days. It's one redeeming feature is that it has a decent 5 speed.

if your going to go drifting your going to have to get rid of that 5 speed along with the engine though. This isnt as bad as it sounds though, well except for the pedal box bit

The 5 speed is no good for drifting? Is it weak or something? I have a chance to buy a cheap AE86 5 speed that was attached to a 4AC, any better?

Haha, thanks man. That's exactly what I was thinking, it's held up pretty damn well after the thrashing it's been given. But I want it to be fairly reliable unlike the FC, so if anything's likely to f@$k up, I'll replace it.

its not that, even with a turbo the original K engine you have there is going to be pretty sad for drifting unless you wait for rain first, and seeing that you need a different gearbox with a 4a engine under normal circimstances you can't use it.

4kc has k50 gearbox

4ac/4age has t50

look forward to seeing what happens. a normal person would have scrapped this hahah.

I'm guessing he will be replacing the somewhat lacking engine eventually which will of course require a new gearbox :jamie:

i can't wait to get working on her. Might pop round next weekend get a bit of work done on both the eskie and the ke

Just a quick update.

I actually forgot about this thread but this car is nearing the heavens. It now has a smashed up back end and is looking pretty sad, I replaced A LOT of parts on this thing so it's time to buy a granny spec AE71 and use this thing as a parts car. :-(

/thread.
