abbott Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 hey guys I'm looking at bringing a ke10 i found in victoria into south australia. I know there is a lot of ke1x fans out there so I'm sure someone can help me with the following question! the car originally had a K engine but that blew and has now been replaced with a 3K, i was wondering if when bringing the car into the state whether they will except the 3k engine number with the ke10 rego?? any advise would be great and i apologise if the question is stupid or doesnt make sense! LukeAE71 Posted April 12, 2010 Report Posted April 12, 2010 Although I feel that I am wasting my time with this as you most likely won't buy the car I will attempt to help. When bringing a car to SA they will just do a ID check to make sure the engine no. and chassis no. are correct for how it was most recently registered in VIC. They will also check these details to ensure that neither the motor or the car have been reported as stolen. If the car is not currently registered with the 3K and the CORRECT engine no. for the engine which is in the car now then you WILL have issues registering it in SA. It will most likely then be referred for a full roadworthy check and I can only imagine the sorts of issues you will have there. Being an old car things like bushes etc will get you in trouble at Regency Park. If on the other hand the car is registered with the correct engine and engine no. then it will be smooth sailing. ID check usually takes as long as it takes for them to find the engine no. and chassis no. and check it against the database. Quote
