Evan G Posted October 18, 2011 Author Report Posted October 18, 2011 lmao aye stu i got acouple Q while your on my topic :P I'm not sure if my exhaust is tooo restrictive but pulling from 5 to 7 grand feels a little sluggish. but soon as it hits 6500 it seams to bounce off the tacho to 7 grand. a fella that used to race speedway said it sounded and felt like it was running out of timing and "points were bouncing", I'm running a electronic dissy anyways so that doesnt make any sense? I'm running 12 degrees atm with no vac advance. (mechanical advance would be around the 35 degrees) should i play with the timing or wait till i get the tractors on? Quote
kickn5k Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Yeah I'd wait until you get the extractors on that will be your biggest restriction. What dia exhaust do you have? I had a 2" on mine with one muffler and a 18" long hotdog reso. 86db as I had to have it checked for engineers. You still might need to check the advance curve of the dizzy. Do you have the right heat range spark plug? Quote
Evan G Posted October 18, 2011 Author Report Posted October 18, 2011 i got the standard exhuast till the diff then a straight thru excel muffler. when i did the manifold gasket there was a light brown discolouration in the intake manifold, seams like during overlap, the fresh fuel wasnt going thru the exhaust cause it seams restrictive and back thru the intake. what plugs should i be using for this high comp motor? thanks stu! Sorry dude fell asleep last night at the laptop. You'd want a 1 3/4" system at a minimum but no bigger than 2". Sounds like your on the right track though. I used the ngk bp6e's with my blown setup. Have you gapped the plugs a bit tighter? I'd free up the exhaust and give The carb a tune before you tried anything else. If it fixes it you won't know what exactly fixed the problem. Stu. Quote
Evan G Posted October 19, 2011 Author Report Posted October 19, 2011 all good mang. theyve been gapped to the stock .8mm? i was thinking going 2 inch till the back of the hot dog. then reduce it to 1-7/8 then back to 2inch to the final straight thru muffler Quote
Trev Posted October 19, 2011 Report Posted October 19, 2011 took 2 days till i blew another hotbox gasket! ive givin up and now await my RYflow extractors. Are you sure the manifold is straight? I'm running 12 degrees atm with no vac advance. (mechanical advance would be around the 35 degrees) should i play with the timing or wait till i get the tractors on? 12 degrees, is that all? I though you wound it up till it pinged. Quote
Evan G Posted October 19, 2011 Author Report Posted October 19, 2011 It doesn't like cold starts on 12 I wonder what's it like on 20, brb bumping timing up :D Quote
Evan G Posted October 19, 2011 Author Report Posted October 19, 2011 Timing bumped up to 20ish, pulls like a school and doesn't feel like its running outta puff 125kph in 3rd at 7 grand, mad fun Quote
