Taz_Rx Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Have you had a look at the usual CAMS regs? Just basic stuff like steel valve caps, secured batterys etc Quote
chappo12 Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 oh yea sorry forgot about that dam I'm stupid. but yea most of that stuff ive done. any driving tips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
Taz_Rx Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Get a length of barbed wire make a loop at one end and slip it over your tenticles. Then attache the other end of the wire to the brake pedal. Quote

Redwarf Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Don't worry about octane boost, playing with tyre pressures, or screwing with anything on the day. Fill it full of fuel, set your pressures at about 40 before you leave home and simply concentrate on driving. That will be a big enough learning curve on the day without having to worry about everything else. As Taz said, read the CAMS regs, and also the event supp regs, as some hillclimbs (especially up here) have certain extra things they need the car to comply with. And don't forget to have fun. Quote
sam k Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 I'm not trying to encourage you to go crazy, but in hill climbs you usually want to go hard right from the start. It gets you into a good mindset and rythem. In rallys I usually find driving at 8-9/10 I find that I feel more uncomfortable than driving say at 10/10, and just try different lines stuff like that and some things might not feel natrual and fast but the clock doesn't lie. MRMOPARMAN Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 something i like to do (at all meets, not just hillclimbs) is to go around and have a chat to the old fogies/more experienced drivers and try to get tips off them. works very well unless you get a cranky/sheep station racer. Quote
Redwarf Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 ^^^^^ Yep. If possible get one of them to walk the track with you, and get them to point out where on the track you need to be. Where you think you should be, and where you ought to be are often two seperate things. Quote
coln72 Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 If you have time, try to get up and watch a few cars at some of the corners. Forget about the really quick stuff like the open wheelers, but cars similar to yours. Take a stop watch and see what the times are between a couple of easily recognised points. If you don't have time, talk to as many people as you can as has been mentioned by others. Quote
chappo12 Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 yea there is some really good guys there i wll talk to as many as i can Quote
