orangeLJ Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Picked this up from cooma (6hour drive) a little under 12 months ago Primed- painted up some bits- front on for a look rust in the bottoms of the front gaurds- bought some repair sections and made some repairs- etched out the door gaps and underside of the panels- swapped out the original 253 for a recoed motor I got for a case of beer- front back on ready to be rubbed rubbing- painted GTS dash conversion, black, crack free crash pad Cut and buffed windows tinted by karlies dad- windows in- front just sitting in, need to get the hoodlining in before I get it sealed, will have to pull the rear screen again too, but I just wanted it weatherproof and on that note, these two things are all thats needed to get a rear screen (and front screens in most old holdens, not in the HQ series though) Quote
orangeLJ Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 lowering blocks in- wire wheeled, rust converted and painted the floor with epoxy enamel (rust proof stuff) finished- painted the glove box and put it in incoming tunes- Thats about where it is at, Ive got a brand new tailgate to prime and paint and I'm planning to repaint the front apron at the same time (next weekend) Then I can throw the whole front together and the outside is basically done! I'm going to have two grilles, one silver and one black, as I can't make up my mind! Ultimately I want to get a set of FR simmons for it, but the sunrasyias will work well for now. but its coming together, trimmer is coming to do the hoodlining this week, windows in next week. And just for old times sake, this is the reason I became a member here- This was my/my missus' old AE92 SX Quote
JiP Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Dam that looks to be coming along nicely dude. Its come a long way since you got it. Much left to do? Quote
orangeLJ Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 Just little things Jon, Ive just been slack and havent repainted the apron, once its done, the outside will be basically done aside from painting the inside of the ute back, going to do that with "chip coat" and some marine carpet for the dog. Main costs will be the hoodlining ($200ish) new windscreen and fit rear screen with sealant ($150) carpet ($150) and then about 1k for rego and insurance. All up I have spent bugger all, ute cost me $600 + $400 in fuel and an overnight stay. Paint and primer supplies (sand paper etc) was about $500 all up Parts another $500 (ball joint, repair sections, new tailgate, lowering blocks, oil pressure sender) I got lucky with the ute though, its running a supra 5 speed already, so no dramas using it as a daily, also running extractors and a full 2.5" stainless steel exhaust! (sounds ok even!) Lowered front suspension and relatively new shocks all round. Gotta love ebay sometimes, found it on there and negotiated a deal off ebay. Quote
Trev Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 :y: Fvck that is a nice transformation Chris, Let me know if you need any GTS gear. P.S. Karlie behind the wheel pic looks sexy  Quote
orangeLJ Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 Her and the dog have claimed it as their own, what can I say, I live with two females! haha. The main reason we bought the ute was the dog and so I can tow the boat etc round (the VT tows just fine, but its just a pain if we want to take the dog or if we need extra space to put the wakeboards, skis etc.) Quote
73KE20 Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 nice work man looks the gds, any info on the 2door torry haha. Quote
Doogs Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 Looking good Chris. It's nice to see the build summarised in one page. Quote
orangeLJ Posted April 13, 2010 Author Report Posted April 13, 2010 nice work man looks the gds, any info on the 2door torry haha. Purple LJ is a track car, looks like this now- Quote
Tume Posted April 14, 2010 Report Posted April 14, 2010 Wow...Gotta love the utes! Good to see one with a nice white aswell, all around here they are running around grey or some matt colour. Are you putting in quad lights? Quote
orangeLJ Posted April 15, 2010 Author Report Posted April 15, 2010 Yeah twin headlight prem front actually, thats kind of funny, we call it a twin headlight front in the holden world, but in the corolla world its a "quad headlight" front. I suppose both make sense in their own ways, but just got me thinking! Ive got about 6 sets of headlight surrounds, just trying to sort out which ones are the best condition to put on. Quote
Tume Posted April 15, 2010 Report Posted April 15, 2010 Yes but for me it actually wasn't the corolla world but the Chrysler world that had the 'quad' instead of twin phrasing. Either way still look good with the twin front! Although seeing a Kingswood with single front now is getting harder around where I am, so I know what I'm staying as :jamie: Quote
73KE20 Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 man torry is looking mean, dam nice track on the front aswell, should be quite nice in the bends Quote
SLO-030 Posted April 18, 2010 Report Posted April 18, 2010 This things gonna be tough. Have you checked out proUTES.com at all? Although seeing a Kingswood with single front now is getting harder around where I am, so I know what I'm staying as ;) Kinda like seeing a WB without a stato front. Quote
orangeLJ Posted April 20, 2010 Author Report Posted April 20, 2010 I'm just checking out that proutes now, never heard of it before you mentioned it! Thanks for the compliments guys! The torry is definitely a little wider then standard (wheel trac wise anyway!) The sidepipe makes it f@$king loud too! (only just louder then the holley red in the boot though! noisy f@$king fuel pumps they are!) as for the ute.... I needed to repaint the front apron as I found two problems with it. the first was that I missed some spots when the car was painted, so the bottom of the apron was still in primer, and I didnt blow any up around the headlight frames/blinker frames etc. then when I was cutting/buffing, I was cutting a run out and rubber through the white to the rpimer. so I roughed it up and hit it again on the weekend, came out heaps better- wee bit of overspray to deal with, but pressure pack will be fine to touch up the rad support, driveway swept clean! haha. also threw on the bonnet rubber kit to stop it from touching down- going to give it a few days to harden up, then I will throw the front together, get the headlights and blinkers working etc. Ive got two grilles now, so I'm going to paint one silver and one black so I can change them out whenever Karlie feels like a change! haha. Hoodlining should be in this week. Quote
