Ben-89 Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 (edited) Mitch, like what Dropz and I said earlier give it a thorough detailing all over (interior, exterior and engine bay) then once its scrubbed up just start thinking about getting the roof dent removed, the best way would be paintless dent removal where they pop it out and you can just touch it up with some touch up paint. Maybe the dent below the bootlid can be pulled out with something like a slide hammer, as that section is quite flexible it wouldnt take much to straighten out. Actually you could probably push it out without going to the extremes of unsing a slide hammer. One thing I would carefully remove on the exterior of the car would be the door strips, the position they are in are useless due to them being too low, I'd be inclined to leave the car as clean as possible. If you have the following you'll be laughing. 1, Electric buffing machine 2, Cutting compound paste- the type you water down jut don't burn or thin out the paint. 3, Cream/wax polish which you apply last after the car had the "actual" cut and polish 4, Armourall - Dashboard, console, bumpers, grille and engine bay etc 5, Degreaser- Even though its a low km engine, it will be still dirty so a bit of this around the engine bay wont hurt. (just cover the electricals) 6, Tyre shine - pointless having an immaculate car and the tyres are all shabby, so a squirt of this wii make them like new again. To do the above wouldnt take too long, if you're lucky maybe you're dad or a mate can help but as the car isnt regoed I'd just take my time doing it properly. Heres a link to an ae71 I bought which needed a fair bit of love make it shiny again. I also have a ke70 se like you're too so there are quite a few pics. Heres just a quick photo the ke70's bay... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...24805&st=30 Edited April 3, 2010 by "The Mint KE70" Quote
Mitch-12 Posted April 3, 2010 Author Report Posted April 3, 2010 yea thanks mate i have all those things and use them every day polishing our trucks i think ill leave the door bits for now i think thats where they are original right? anyway ill jus clean it up i can't get the stuff off the steering wheel i tryed avgas and everything ive got another ke70 coming so ill see if its the same trim ifso ill take that wheel :D Quote
Gspec Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 It would be a sad sad waste to paddock bash such a clean car. Find an old Datsun or Mitsubishi for that mate. I agree with part 1 and 3. Too good to bash, I still regret bashing my old rolla back when they weren't very popular. Find an old crapper for that. BUT DO NOT bash the Datsuns. Like Rollas, these are good cars sort after by enthusiasts... even the 120Y's. :D Quote
Ben-89 Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 yea thanks mate i have all those things and use them every day polishing our trucks i think ill leave the door bits for now i think thats where they are original right? anyway ill jus clean it up i can't get the stuff off the steering wheel i tryed avgas and everything ive got another ke70 coming so ill see if its the same trim ifso ill take that wheel :S The moulding should be half way up the door, you'll see a groove that travels down along side the car. Really though, the se model never came with mouldings or pinstripes from the dealer. It was a customer request to have it optioned up. On first glance mine looks like a cs (mid spec) as its got all the extras. Look at my ke for reference to the mouldings.. What can't you get off the wheel exactly? all that black build up of sweat and grease? Just replace the wheel with a tan one and you'll be laughing. :D Also what are you're front door cards like? Do they have speakers in them, if not you are preety lucky as most including my previous cards had them put in due to there being no map pockets to interfere with installation. It took me 3 years to find identical se ones for my car. :P Quote
Mitch-12 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 the car is 100% original no speakers in door original everything i have a cs so ill look at that for ref and yours the cs is a basher lol 100 000 on it haha Quote
Ben-89 Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Nah Mitch, none of mine are bashers - no bloody way. The white one is an se (optioned up) 132.000km , the red ae71 is a cs (no options except for the mud flaps like yours and thats it. 195.000 km A good car for $200.00 :D Quote
Mitch-12 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 i was refering to mine as a basher i have another ke70 with 100 000 thou on it as a basher um the strips on the white car can't be moved there a differnt length from if they wer half way up the door Quote
Mitch-12 Posted April 4, 2010 Author Report Posted April 4, 2010 thinking tommorow i might give it a wash and a cut and polosh if i get bored after doing some go fast mods to the yota rolla Quote

I misunderstood when you referred to your other car and thought you were talking about mine. Looking forward to the progress mate. Quote

Would you be able to get away with putting touch up paint over the actuall scratches. Or maybe give the car to a panel beater who can repair the dent and blend it into the roof with fresh paint. It depends on how much its of a concern. Edited April 4, 2010 by "The Mint KE70" Quote

Mitch-12 Posted April 5, 2010 Author Report Posted April 5, 2010 Spent a few hrs today polishing the whole car by hand (dad was using the buff for the aluminium on his truck) came up really well got all most all of the marks out of the paint later on this arvo i will put the second lot of wax polish stuff on it and it will be awesome i also did the tyres bumpers and mudflaps with some special stuff i found in the polishing cabinet also later tonight i might attack the inside later this week I'm going to paint my rims silver can't polish rust lol so ill sandblast and paint them then it should be pretty good ill also get some tough up paint and do a few spots Quote
Ben-89 Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 Ohhh yeah, now we're talking!!!! That has come up a treat, its a good idea you are giving it a second polish with some cream/wax polish, it will be like a lolly. Bumpers and tyres came up a beauty. Both of my Corollas I repainted my rims too, but I used Septone wheel paint in wheel silver, and on the ke I used VHT "aluminium" finish paint. The silver finishes from these two products wont give you that cheap blingy look like the chaep export stuff. Lastly, pull off your centre caps and polish them you'll see the difference. Loving the progress mate! Quote
Mitch-12 Posted April 5, 2010 Author Report Posted April 5, 2010 i have now pulled the stupid things along the doors off that are not ment to be there need to polish where they wer lots of grimey stuff there in the process of degreasing the engine pics soon.... Quote
