jzk25 Posted March 28, 2010 Report Posted March 28, 2010 I got this KE55 from my brother, he has had it in his farm shed for 8 years west of Gympie in Qld. A mate of ours overheated it driving out ther 8 years ago and left it there. My bro rebuilt the 4K with new pistons and the usual stuff. It's been run but not driven. So he started the body work and lost interest and it sat half rubbed back since. I finally bullied him into relinquishing it to me to make into a hillclimber and new home for an SXE10 Beams 3sge and 6MT that I had. As "purchased". The new engine with a 1UZ throttle body adapted to remove the stupid half drive by wire setup. We decided to get the panel work done first and register as std and then do the conversion work. The panel work was left to a pro as I hate it and am flat out with mechanical stuff 6 days a week anyway. Came home after a weekend away and the 55 had been re-kermited. Rego is next, then Beams, 6MT, hilux diff, coilover front, adaptronic etc. Quote
RedKE30 Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 Beams KE55? Sweet. Looks awesome mate. I'm gonna be watching this thread! Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 damn tidy now, beams is the perfect engine of choice. I imagine this will progress extremely quick considering your previous work, looking forward to it! Quote
seabiscuit Posted March 29, 2010 Report Posted March 29, 2010 A whole weekend... Wow. That panel beater is awesome :D Quote
jzk25 Posted March 29, 2010 Author Report Posted March 29, 2010 Haha, yeah no, it took him about 3 weeks to sort the body out and 2 days to paint. I've got no car atm(other than the work ute) so have to get stuck into this thing so I have something cool to drive. What's the consensus on xE7x rack coversions on these things? Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted March 30, 2010 Report Posted March 30, 2010 Its been done, not very often though, this man has done his ke25, not the same front end though as a ke30. I can't remember where to find a ke30 converted one atm. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=11909 a few details on page 7 Quote
jzk25 Posted June 1, 2010 Author Report Posted June 1, 2010 Did some work on this today. Pulled the old donk and box and associated crap no longer required. Upon removing the brake booster we discovered that a subaru booster bolts straight in place of it, unfortunately the master cylinder pipe outlet wasn't quite right so we went through the piles of bits and found a pulsar GTiR booster and master. The booster was identical to the subaru unit but the master was more suitable so it got the nod. We also had the clutch master from the GTiR and the rolla needed one so we used it as well. The pedal box was customised to suit and it all bolted up nicely. Next we swung the engine and box in. It didn't fit so we removed the swaybar and sectioned the rear of the sump to clear the drag link. Fitted better now but still had to give the floor some relief to get the box in place. Inlet and exhaust manifolds fit too. Engine and box mounts will be made tomorrow. Quote
Undertaker_is_the_best Posted June 1, 2010 Report Posted June 1, 2010 very nice looking hardtop coupe mate like others have said will be watching this progress :D ;) Quote
jzk25 Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Got some more done today. Mounted the gearbox and engine. Used shackle bushes to make these. Also fitted the front struts with coilovers and hilux 4 spots. We adapted some JIC subaru strut tops and springs to it for the moment. Also fitted the sigma lower arms. Need to find wheels to suit the hilux diff and these struts. Less offset and a bit less width than these. Quote
altezzaclub Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 If you need stock Altezza motor/g'box parts let me know. Stuff can come in from NZ at good rates. Should be a great conversion. Its a shame those motors are so expensive. Quote
jzk25 Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Cheers. I only paid $1500 for engine box and ecu so am not complaining. Quote
greenmac80 Posted June 3, 2010 Report Posted June 3, 2010 i love those engine mounts and g/box mounts never thought of doing it that way before. Quote
jzk25 Posted June 3, 2010 Author Report Posted June 3, 2010 Pretty common way of mounting an engine when you don't want it to move at all and don't care about hideous vibrations and noise. :abuse: Quote
