mikeys toy[RL] Posted July 23, 2005 Report Posted July 23, 2005 my Plymouth Cricket's Datsun a14 intake; this is a redline adapter for a dgv/dfv carb Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted July 23, 2005 Author Report Posted July 23, 2005 i had a spare adapter, had it welded to the intake, then hogged it all out the car did a best of 16.98@75 mph this way Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted July 23, 2005 Author Report Posted July 23, 2005 prob was with the large open area, it would pool the fuel when cold. i bolted the other adapter to a stock datto carb and then bolted it to the intake adapter making it stock again..... Quote
Super Jamie Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 an old performance trick, increases the plenum area, quite common on carbed v8s and stuff i did the same thing with my weber adapter on my old 3k Quote
Xany Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 i also did the same thing :D.....we seem to have a trend going here. Quote
Northen Rolla Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 Might look into doing the same on my a12. Quote
NickZ Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 (edited) hmmm A12 I have one in my Datto 1200 ute, As most people know i LOVE my fuel injection, i wont use carbies i hate them. This weekend ive started making my EFI manifold for my A12 from scratch. Short runners big plenum and a 70mm throttlebody, I'm looking for revs over torque. ill keep you all posted and put up some pics when ive got alittle more to show if people are intrested. I know these are not Toyota or corolla, But it maybe information that can be use by others in the future. If this does work ok ill be trying the same for my brothers KE70 as the 4KE manifold is not good for revs and the 7KE are just too hard to get and cost to much. Edited July 24, 2005 by NickZ Quote
demuire Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 Hmm, maybe I should have done that with Haikals manifold... Quote
Super Jamie Posted July 24, 2005 Report Posted July 24, 2005 you can also make up a spacer out of several stock carby pcv plates. you'd need longer studs in the manifold, and it would be an idea to make up a gasket for each and permatex it in. and of course, block off the pcv hole i had a stack of them i'd epoxied up the holes in and was making gaskets to go between them, then i got a pair of sprinter twins, then rob sold me those SUs :D Quote
cookie Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 read some where are two main types of intake spacer 1. Open spacer 2. Inlet spacer cannot recall the function any idea for the precise name :D Quote
cookie Posted July 25, 2005 Report Posted July 25, 2005 an old performance trick, increases the plenum area, quite common on carbed v8s and stuff i did the same thing with my weber adapter on my old 3k can I have the measurement for the thickness of the spacer plate thks as interested to do one =) unless you got a spare and willing to let it go for me :D Quote
