TE278U Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) Hi Rolla Fans, I want a couple of new dashes for my e1's. I know they aren't available, so i want to make some. I have started making enquiries about having a ke1x dash reskinned, even a quick search turned up nothing that was specific for ke1x. I rang Dashboard Doctor in coburg today, he doesn't have facility to repair them, however, I asked if he could cover a fibreglass mould. He said yes, (up to $300) which leads me to looking for someone to make a mould of a good dashpad. (maybe moulding in new clips too?) I have got three uncracked dashes here, one from early ke10, one from ke10b, and one from ke11. (yet to compare side by side, but iirc, they are different) I have varying measurements for these dashes, wondering if anyone can help with posting up the dimensions their dash is (total width, and distance between humps?) maybe even spacing of mounting tabs? IF anybody would be interested in buying one of these, (no firm plans to go ahead at this stage, just an eoi) please PM me or post here (if you are a competent fibreglasser, or know one, Please contact me too.) -Dave 0422 328 332 IF YOU HAVE HAD PERSONAL EXPERIENCE HAVING ONE RESKINNED, PLEASE POST RESULTS IN THIS THREAD. I don't want clutter of "this guy might be able to, or try a retrimmer, or try a dash doctor" (if you wish to do some research and post up FACT, feel free to do so.) Rolla_10 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) $300 just for a re-skin, i had mine dash/s completly redone, including pins/clips for round that $$$. "Dash Original" in Adelaide.... Takes crash pads in with cricket pitch cracks in them and makes them new, vaccumed down, not that cheap covering crap. They have done 2 ke10's dashes and a ta22 celica dashes for me. Edited March 19, 2010 by Rolla_10 Quote
parrot Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 Dave is clearly a man on a mission! I had a look in the master part catalog. This lists TWO safety pads for KE1x, the differentiation based on date of manufacture. 6611 - 6803 (Nov 66 - Mar 68) 6803 - 7004 (Mar 68 - Apr 70) There is no listing specific to the various models. KEI069 Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 The later of the two dash pads listed by parrot should be 1170mm in length and have a recess in the centre approx. 320mm I have just had mine reskinned by the Dashboard Doctor and I am very happy with the result. I gave them an average condition pad with two very sizeable cracks and a couple of smaller cracks and now it really is brand new. To TE278U i am in ferntree gully if you want to have a look at the end result. Cheers Justin 9758 8500 Quote
philbey Posted March 18, 2010 Report Posted March 18, 2010 I'd be interested in getting mine redone, or perhaps buying a new made one. Let me know. Quote

JiP Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 There is a place up in Bris that does the same as the Adelaide place. As long as u bring all the pieces they'll make a fresh whole one. Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 Definitely put me down for one of those dashes if you can identify which one fits the 67. Quote

JiP Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 (edited) http://www.dashboardrestorations.com.au The KE1x dash wont be listed but I've actually gone upto them with a KE2x dash and they said they could still rebuild it from the parts. Would be worth a try to send them a message. Edited March 19, 2010 by JiP Quote
