Thanks to those that offered advise. I bought a car today, payed $270. Motor's done 220k, seems ok. Will get a friend who's a mechanic to check it out.

if the cam covers are accurate then it looks like you got yourself a 7 rib. Good choice ;)

More accurate gauge (because it is less likely to be swapped out) is the lack of air-temp sensor on the intake plenum (7-ribs have it on the airbox)
