hi all. earlier tonight while i was driving home i almost killed my engine. as you may or may not know, it decided to piss down rain for about an hour between 9 and 10 last night. the road i had picked for my journey had decided to flood and without warning i was driving in 2 foot of water. water came up over the bonnet and right over the car and while it looked really cool, my pod filter decided that water would be better than air for my engine and it kind of stopped running. i was like "oh shit" cause my car just died and i was stuck in the middle of the road while it was pouring rain. i tried to start her up again and although it tried to start, it wouldnt. it just kept not starting. so i was like "ill let it dry out a bit and then ill try again." still nothing. by this time the rain had ceased and i decided to stick my head under the bonnet. "ah good, the engine is still there." so using the complex method of checking and looking for bits that i remembered were under the bonnet i concluded that it was still not starting...

once my dads car did the same thing when he ran it through some deep water and all we did was take the distributer cap off and dryed it out. started straight away. so i thought i would do the same thing. sure enough when i started undoing the bolts some water came out, but so did some oil. upon closer inspection i discovered that the coil is stuffed. so I'm like "ah good." :D

close but no cigar. anyways, heed my warning. keep your eyes peeled for deep puddles and things like that cause water is bad for cars, particulalry under the bonnet. i wasnt speeding and i had my eyes open and yet i still did not notice all the water on the road untill it was to late. now i have to wait till tuesday to get the bitch to a mechanic cause they arent open on sunday and of course monday is a public holiday for some stupid australia day thingy...

anyways, whish me and my bank account luck.

Last time i got water in my motor I got LOTS!!!

I had to turn the car over with the spark plugs out - to throw the water out that was resting on top of the pistons - not a happy day.

:D

I'd rip the spark plugs out first then crank it over and let the compression blow any water out of the spark plug holes, then spray crc in the cylinders, then put the spark plugs back in and procede to fire it over.
