Gday guys,

don't know if this has been posted about before or not but i was having a converstion with a mate who owns a mazda 808 (similar engine bay dimensions as a ke30/55) and he reckons he could fit a 1 or 2jz without any firewall or tunnel cutting (maybe some sledge hammer work). It may be possible but the only worry ive got is the weight distribution, you would have to mount the fuel tank way back in the boot or sandbag it or something.

What do u guys reckon? Could u fit a 1 or 2jz in a ke30/55 without cutting the firewall or tunnel?

I know this modification wouldnt be street legal due to the power to weight ratio.

Cheers, Keelan

umm no way will that fit with out modifying fire wall and tunnel and if you fitted 1 with a front mounted sump it puts the motor too far forward no room for rad, thermo fans or intercooler and there's too much weight past the front wheels it will handle like poo

Yeah you could put a 1jz or 2jz in there but not with a gearbox or any other bits hanging off the block.

You could put a drop bear in there too with out firewall mods but it wont handle very well!

thats what i thought, the weight distribution would be crap it wouldnt even turn, plus you would have to mount the radiator and front mount way forward or in the rear.

Your thread is what sparked the conversion lol

i had i 808 sedan and thought about a red 202 conversion and without firewall conversions it woul stick 8 inches out past the grill. not exactly relevant but just saying 808s had a small engine bay especially with front folding bonnet

first neither motor is legal with turbo and only the 1j non turbo, also they are 100mm to long unless you remote fit your radiator and intercooler theyre are so many better choices than those, buy a tape measure and go to the importers and take special attention to the sump
