GTS-T_Sedan Posted March 9, 2010 Report Posted March 9, 2010 Hi all Need to get some engine and gearbox mounts made up for my 20v and t50 I know a few people already have done this conversion and was wondering if i could get dimensions of the mounts they used so i can weld up my own Thanks Nick Quote
GTS-T_Sedan Posted April 22, 2010 Author Report Posted April 22, 2010 anyone at all that could possibly help? Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 I'm pretty sure SamQ is gearing up to make these, at least the engine mounts. Shoot him a pm? JP Quote
GTS-T_Sedan Posted April 25, 2010 Author Report Posted April 25, 2010 Yeah Sam got some made, but something hit when they were test fitted Now he has a fair bit of work on and isnt doing these for a while, was going to just buy them off him. So now even if i get measurements off somebody ill make them up myself Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 If your able to make them yourself then you shouldn't really need the measurements. The easiest and smartest way for you to get these done wound be to make or have made plates that are the same as A series mounts on the block side and K series mounts that are the same on the engine mount side (I hope that made sense?), bolt these in there respective places then lower the engine to where you want it, measure up the area between your new plates and make up the difference in steel, tack them in place and bobs your Aunty. Of course you have to make it neat, weld them properly and make a gearbox cross member but that's the basic idea of custom mounts. The last set I did I made the gearbox crossmember first with everything where I wanted it, this gave me my locating point to start the engine mounts. This way I could shift the engine around until it cleared EVERYTHING nicely and gave me the correct tailshaft angle etc. If you able to do it yourself then you probably know it's easier than it's made out to be, just get a proffesional welder to tig it up and get a detailed reciept, will cover you if you are getting it engineered. Sorry for the long post, wasn't something I could do in 20 words  JP Quote
GTS-T_Sedan Posted April 26, 2010 Author Report Posted April 26, 2010 yeah i get what your saying, but the only reason i ask for measurements is i don't have a block & tackle or engine crane so it would be heaps easier to jsut have measurements and i can cut and weld them up Quote
