KEhendo Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 hey guys. thought i'd share with the collective corolla community on this. no other information apart from these pics from a nagoya car show. dated 16/6/2001. from what i can see it is a 150E/3K-R what ever you want to call it in a te27/ke25 shell. can anyone shed any information or any more pics of this beast? do with think it was a factory or a custom job? experimental race car? the plot thickens! i was just re-looking over the pics and it appreas to be a LHD car. hmmmmmmmm :P Quote
Jason KE30 Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 No way could it be a factory job. My guess would be a jap nostalgia race car from the states maybe. Hard to say, bit would love to get some more info on this thing. Looks freakin awesome. And from the videos that I've seen of the legendary 3k-r, this thing would fly. Nice find! Cheers Jason Quote
78_7kRolla Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Hells yeh! Nice find Alex, i'm now drooling... Quote
Doogs Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Sweet ! Interested to see if anyone knows more about this car. Quote
tojo2 Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Looks more like the 16 valve TTE vertion of the 2tg to me :P http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/1616/scan0001cu.jpg http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/8348/scan0002p.png http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/8092/scan0001v.png Quote
irokin Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Looks more like the 16 valve TTE vertion of the 2tg to me :P I think tojos on the money. Makes more sense to have a 151E in a TE27 than a 137E too. Quote
philbey Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 yep that motor is carby fed not mech injection. Quote
Evan G Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 say what! they came out with mechanical fuel injections? Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 Dizzy and the water cooling pip is in the wrong spot for it to be a 3k-R Id say it is a 16 valve TTE vertion of the 2tg. Cheers Cameron Quote
trd Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 May even be the 2.0lt one. 55 were made for TTE (18r-16v) and a hand full released to the public. for cars like this one Toyota Canada TE72 Quote
snot35 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 I've seen shots of that one before. I think it's an enthusiasts car in Japan. In other references I'm pretty sure the motor is a 151E. Anyone read the specs in the above links about the TE37? 170HP twin cam in it, and solid front disks! What?!? I guess he has little intention to stop :D Quote
KEhendo Posted March 9, 2010 Author Report Posted March 9, 2010 ok, we are guessing that the engine is a 151E. why is the shell LHD? this either means the shell/car where either american or european delivered. why would the owner import a te27 back into japan unless this conversion was already done?
