jason12 Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 Hey guys, currently trying to get the tailshaft off my ke55 and the bolts are on really fkn tight. Ive WD40d them and they still don't wanna budge. Ive got limited tools and have been using a 12mm spanner but I'm unsure if this is the bolt size (seems to be a tiiiny bit of play) Anyone got any tips to help get the thing off? Quote
Evan G Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 try put a pipe on it, (if its a good spanner) and lever the f@$ker! Quote
Funking-Awesome Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 If you can, hit the spanner with a hammer while giving the spanner tension (the way you want the bolt to go). Quote
seabiscuit Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 If she ain't budgin', try and get a set of impact sockets to get em undone. Keep soaking it with WD40 every few hours if you can. Don't force it or you'll round the heads. Quote
jason12 Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 Yeah ive only got a shitty spanner set at the moment and have already slightly rounded one so thought id come on here and ask. Can anyone confirm what size the bolts are? Quote
shauns ke30 Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 done this yesterday well not the grinder part lol  2 12mm spanners!  if this don't work 2 12mm sanners peace of pipe and a hammer!  and if this don't work grinder :P Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 put spanner on bolt and use ya jack to turn it and use the weight of the car to crack it. If you have shit spanners don't try this. I did this when had no room for a strong arm. Worked sweet. Quote
jason12 Posted March 7, 2010 Author Report Posted March 7, 2010 Cheers will go buy a couple of good 12mm's and try all of the above :P Will let ya know how i go Quote
LukeAE71 Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 For whatever reason I always use vice grips to hold the side which is harder to get a spanner over. Then use a socket and breaker bar on the other side. I just tried it one time due to limited tools and it works a treat  Hasn't failed me yet and no rounded bolts either... If you jam the vice grips up against the car it will also have the added bonus of holding it from spinning while you crack the bolt :P Quote
RainWarriorDregs Posted March 7, 2010 Report Posted March 7, 2010 you can also buy this stuff called freeze and release. it freezes the nut and grime around it and loosens up the thread. it helped me get my diff out! Â good luck Quote
jason12 Posted March 8, 2010 Author Report Posted March 8, 2010 Went out and brought a decent 12mm spanner and wd40d the feck out of it and managed to get them all undone. Cheers guys Quote
drc_ke20 Posted March 8, 2010 Report Posted March 8, 2010 i suggest you replace the nuts, bolts and spring washer too while your at it,so next time you wont have any problems besides the uni`s? :D Quote
