G'day. So back in November I phoned up my mate Murph and asked him to be on the lookout for a VT-VX going for well as I wanted to get something a bit bigger then the rolla I had. Instead get a call from him saying meet me, and have him speed down to Pooraka to show me this VS Statesman.

Seeing it straight away I fell for it and (foolishly) bought the Statesman.

- Supercharged V6.

- 18" Alloys

- Clean interior

- Tow Bar

- All wiring done for Subs

Was coming to the point where I had enough money to fix the problems with the engine and had booked it in, later that day the car engine blew!

Have taken it into Rhemac at Willaston and so far am quite proud of the service they have offered so far, even though the bill is going to be big.

What is damaged/ Needed to be replaced:

- Cracked Exhaust Manifolds

- Radiator

- Heads needed work (valves weren't sitting right) rockers etc etc.

- Pulleys and belts within next few months

So I'm currently having all of it fixed can't wait to get it back (driving a rodeo ute at the moment :P )

Future plans include:

- Upgrade sound System

- Replace boot and have complete respray in same colour.

- Get the wheels welded up as I believe the previous owner played hit n' miss with gutters.

- Thin redwalls on the tyres and leave it as is.

Just make sure you don't crack that rear centre garnish when (not if, when) you take it off to clean out all the gunk that is (not might be, is) inside it because the seals are made of fail and assembled by knuckle dragging monkeys.

A new one is more than the car is worth. ($300)

It already had a tiny crack in it. Agreed the seals were shite, reminds me of the spoilers on a VT where the holes were drilled and then the seals failed, meaning you would open the boot to have water drip in.

You know what's funny? Even the VE's still do that...

Thats because when you talk about a commodore or a falcon,

your really talking about a mass produced quick slap together.

I used to own a VS Statesman V6, me and my dad pulled the

motor and box out of it and converted it to manual, it was the

only manual stato i had heard of at the time, there may be more

around now though... I must admit though, when i had that car

i loved it to death, i still regret selling it actually. Good luck with the

ride dude, its a nice one.

You've converted it to manual? Most people I know believe it actually devalues the car as they were only made as automatic and therefore the firewall had to be hacked up to fit all of the manual gear.

It is a nice ride once again since its running, am loving it to death (which I also find sad) Next on the list of things to do is redoing all the suspension and sussing out what I need to upgrade the sound system. One good thing about this car is the previous person paid for a professional installation, meaning all the wiring and sound proofing is all in there still.

Been considering getting the yella terra upgrade kit for the supercharger and the roller rockers. However I am hearing mixed responses about them so more research is needed before putting the car in a bad direction.

Are you going to up grade the pully on the super charger.

yella terra make a kit.

this is a really simple but yet really effective upgrade to do

but to do this u should have extractors exhaust run decent plugs leads cold air intake which it would have that as standard k&n filter dosnt have to be a pod just standard box filter upgrade and run on premium fuel although these cars recomend that u rum premium from factory o and a 10 psi pulley which u can get from outlaw speed shop. so if u don't have any of these things its gonna cost u around $2000-$2500 for these things exhaust is a killer. i have done it all to my current vs stato and u get good results outta it belive me..... if u wanna know if its worth it come and take mine for a spin and u will soon know.

and I'm pretty sure the yella terra kit is around the $4000 mark fitted but seriously is it worth it when u can spend that sorta money on something like a rolla and be twice as fun its not easy to throw a stato around.

strange as on the Holden Commodore club there are people who have done bought the kit for ~600. Already has the CAI and a higher boost pulley so I may do it. I want this car to beat 219.8 kw atw as that's what a mates vx ss pulls LOL

And yes when possible I use 98 octane otherwise I have to use 95. Would shoot my mum if she put in 91.

ok the pulley is $145 from outlaw speed shop my extractors and 2 1/4" twin exhaust with b4 and after dyno was $1200 but i don't think u will get it that cheap now i was quoted anwhere up to $2200 depending where u go around $140 for k&n filter and need to run something like top gun 8.8mm spiral leads and bosh platinum/irridium plugs..

if u want to get over 200rwkw u will need to sink some major money into it id say around the $5000-$8000 mark maybe more u would need to go yella terra with a massive front mount roller rockers remaped computer cooler thermostat heat shields ect ect at the end of the day u will be pushing to make that sorta power outta a 3.8ltr v6

my car was 112rwkw before i put the exhaust on and 122rwkw after but i had a boost leak and it was only running at 3.3 psi now its around 9 and there was a massive gain in power throttle response.

hope this gives u some sorta direction for which way u would like to go i know if i had a lazy 10k laying around i know what i would be doing...

Yella terra platinum roller rockers, uprated valve springs and change the pulley.

The change in rockers, alone, is well worth the money (around $400 to me at trade from memory) the upgraded ratio (1.9s I think) is excellent.

I'm assuming you are running a decent exhaust? Pacemaker make S/C extractors (larger primaries) for these.

Metal high flow cat, and a decent exhaust will get it moving (make sure you have a decent muffler and atleast one resonator, holden v6s are notorious for drone)

Should see it in the high 100s I would think.

Yeah exhaust has been done before I bought it.

Cheers JOLUF for the advice, when I eventually have the car all paid off and everything else done (tint, sound) I might go yella terra and move on from there.
