demuire Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 An idea... Someone should try putting Falcon rear discs on. I had a brief look at the brackets, and without measuring everything, it looks like it wouldn't be hard to get to bolt up. The problems I can see are that the bracket may be too thick, and that the discs are 5 stud, so you'd have to get them redrilled to 4 stud. But the calipers are nice and beefy, cheap as chips, and the discs are BIG and VENTILATED. Quote
demuire Posted July 19, 2005 Author Report Posted July 19, 2005 Here is someone putting them on a Jeep Quote
Medicine_Man Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 the different stud pattern would be the downside.. Quote

No, I'm not talking about swapping the entire Falcon diff. I'm talking about putting Falcon brakes on some other diff like a Celica diff or T18 diff or something. And using the original axles, thereby giving you the original 4 stud... Quote
demuire Posted July 19, 2005 Author Report Posted July 19, 2005 It would be just like putting R31 brakes on, except the brakes would probably be cheaper, and they're bigger. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 i have seen many conversions of falcon brakes onto alot of different cars. the main advantage is that the handbrake works off the calipers rather than an inner drum. the conversion often involves machining though. Quote
demuire Posted July 19, 2005 Author Report Posted July 19, 2005 I think most conversions of this sort will require some sort of machining or other. I've got Bluebird TRX discs on the back of my car, and they aren't really ideal for 2 reasons - alloy caliper bracket, and internal drum handbrake. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 i have a strong diff for sale if anyone is intersted. it is a mazda b1800 diff with falcon ea brakes to suit a ke30 55 . it has been 4 studded ect. bolt in. except for tailshaft. Quote
demuire Posted July 19, 2005 Author Report Posted July 19, 2005 Probably best to put an ad up in the For Sale section, not in this thread :) Quote
