67Rolla-Ken Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 (edited) Howdy all, sorry I missed the cruise Seeing as my car wasn't ready I considered watching a Motorkhana to be a better offer :blinks: I forgot the good camera and the video camera... but got a couple of pics on my phone. Was a great day! We had an AE86 from franzonline.net competing, an awesome AWD 323, a white GTI Swift, a tidy red Brumby ute, a super quick blue Datsun rally car, an MX5 rally car, an MG Miget (looked so cute and small when sliding around the corners), and a hand full of falcadores that had no hope on the nice twisty tracks. First course was a dirt track with some nice corners in between bollards. Almost every car either got lost or looped it round at one time or other, but most guys got at least two good runs. The awd 323 was absolutely amazing. The second course was arround buildings on tarmack and gravel. After everyone had ha a couple of runs we ended up with two clear contests... quickest time between all the smaller cars, and biggest burnout of the line between the two falcons and commodore. After a while a few of us could see where this was heading :D The 2009 V8 SS commodore lined up for what I think was his 3rd run. Did a resonable burnout off the line but missed second and couldn't get the car in gear. After coming to a complete stop he finally managed to get it in gear and took off, clearly a little upset with himself. Coming around the second last corner he lost the back end but decided to keep the boot in and have some fun with it... After 3 or 4 fishtails he met up with a gum tree on the side of the road. This was a good 50-100 meters from the corner wher the fun started, so he'd managed to build up a decent amount of speed. The car is most likely a write off... engine and gearbox are stuffed, front wheels are hard up against the back of the wheel arches, and both front airbags went off. The driver is ok, was winded and in a lot of shock straight after but was discharged that night. I think the biggest injury was to his pride. I hope he comes back next year... but I doubt he will. After all that I have no idea who won... was definately entertaining :lolcry: Edited March 1, 2010 by 67Rolla-Ken Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 When you said commodore I thought you meant "old busted and rusty banger" :blinks: I was wrong...... Bloody solid hit though, I'm impressed. :lolcry: Quote
altezzaclub Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 haha! Experence is a tough teacher! When I was working on a rental of mine the neighbour had a screaming match with his wife then jumped in his Skyline and gave it heaps round and round and round on the lawn until he met a very solid tree in exactly the same way! It sat in the yard for ages after that, must have made him feel shit every day he saw it... Quote
Redwarf Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 He fronted up to the ATM of talent and was told he had insufficient funds. Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted March 1, 2010 Author Report Posted March 1, 2010 I like that one Redwarf :blinks: I knew I had forgotten at least one car, there was also this odd looking newish Reno small car. The thing looked completely stock, even with the bonnet popped. Man did this thing boogy! The guy driving it wasn't shy on the corners either. I heard a rumor of 180hp, it sure sounded potent. Yeh, the event was definately suited to smaller awd or fwd cars. The bigger rwd cars were more comic relief than anything else. Also, Franz from Franzonline.net is an awesome driver! Only problem was he was too scared to bring his Evo 8, might scratch the paint :lolcry: Quote
LukeAE71 Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Sweet I guess his insurance will buy him another Commodore now, more work for me :blinks: :lolcry: Quote
