Ok my question is.

some of us have used the facet style fuel pump on out little k engines and they work fine.

noisy but fine.

now i have a tank in my shed that has been fitted with an intank vl lift pump.

i understand that this will flow more than enough fuel at low pressure. but... will the pressure be too high for the needle and seat on

a 4k carb?

Does it act as a lift pump in a VL or as the stand alone pump??

If it is the only fuel pump I would have thought it would be in the 100's of psi range :hmm: Either way a fuel pressure regulator should be able to sort it out. And at least you won't have all that noise from a Facet pump. I had one in my AE71, brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

a facet pump does NOT have to be noisy, depends on how you mount it!!

use small pieces of fuel hose, and longer bolts to mount it so it is flexible, and the noise will not be transmitted to the chassis...

a VL fuel pump (the main efi system unit) will put out somewhere around 30-45 psi (I think) and you will need to put a pressure regulator in, a carburettor requires 7 psi at the most. I'm not sure about the "lift" pump in a VL...

Feel free to correct me on any of that if I'm wrong lol.

iwas looking at that procomp regulator on ebay

that reguator is good for runing low psi up to around 14 which is heaps for our carbys

it should be good for ur application

i was goin to buy it to use for my turbo 4k

i don't mean to hijack your thread bro, but i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for a elec fuel pump. i got no idea where to look or what pressures to look at. does anyone know what pressure fuel pump i need?

will this do?

Firstly, yes VL's had a low pressure in-tank lift pump. You should be fine to use this however a reg would be a great idea. :hmm:

this would be what i'm after?

brand names mean much in this sorta thing?

As Ryan asid, don't go for a PROCOMP, they're just a Holley knock-off so either get a quality Holley reg (for much the same $) or I'm also somewhat fond of these ones.....

The number that you point the arrow at is the pressure in PSI.

You need a RR reg as said in PM, not the same as greenmac needs.

Yes that pump will do the job for a carby engine. Pretty much any low pressure pump will do.

bringing back an old topic, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut

if i put a facet electric fuel pump in my car, so i run it in line with the mechanical fuel pump? this is what i've been told by a mechanic mate. now i thought the whole reason of getting an elec fuel pump was the get rid of the mechanical one?

can anyone clear this up for me please.

cheers

Your "Mechanic mate" needs to find a new job!!! :bash:

Yes you're correct in your assumption that the elec pump should replace your mechanical one.
