TIMMMAAAAYYY Posted July 16, 2005 Report Posted July 16, 2005 I have been working on my ke35 coupe for around 5 years now.......and I am almost at the stage where it needs a paint job. Any budding painters out there who would like to earn a few bob? Or perhaps a recommendation from someone who has a place in mind? Anything under $1,000 will be greatly appreciated. Quote
TIMMMAAAAYYY Posted July 17, 2005 Author Report Posted July 17, 2005 By the way......I'm in Ipswich.....but will travel for the right price. Quote
Super Jamie Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 buy a 3hp compressor kit with spraygun and some paint. now practice. that's about all you're going to get for a grand mate Quote
Ratty Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 If you have the confidence give it a crack mate, if you have no idea theres a book HOW TO PAINT YOUR CAR its 35 bucks at most book stores like jamie said buy or rent a compressor and spray gun with 1.8mm nossle if i remember correctly and make sure your car is preped good (no dents or rust) spray it in primer that will be your trial run, make sure u add the correct amount of thinners to your paint and if u don't want to attempt it save some more money and get some quotes and compare I'm sure theres someone out there that will help you out mate good luck :( Quote
demuire Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 I'd be happy to give it a shot, but I'd rather not. I have no equipment at the moment, and judging by the paint job on my car, I probably shouldn't be allowed to paint anyone elses cars... Quote
Ratty Posted July 17, 2005 Report Posted July 17, 2005 do you have any pics we might be able to give you some advise on whats good or not :( Quote

TIMMMAAAAYYY Posted July 19, 2005 Author Report Posted July 19, 2005 I'm sure I will find someone willing to do it for me. Thanks for the tips, guys........maybe I should buy the gear and try it myself. Quote
demuire Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 I think I have one of those spray painting books, if you want to have a look through it. Doesn't tell you very much more than what you'd find on the Internet in a few hours though :) Quote
Redwarf Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 We did this ourselves, cost around $300 in materials. We were given a booth to spray it in however. Quote
demuire Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 Wow, where on earth did you get your paint? Considering red is one of the more expensive colors too... I think I paid about $150+ or so for my paint, but mine is untinted white and black which are really cheap. Then + primers and thinners etc, probably came up to about $300 or so Quote
Tiger Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 My first rolla cost me all up $250! :D My mate resprayed it for me and I prepped the car before hand... paint was cheap (baked enamel...2 nice coats and a light rub back and buff) and it was one clean rolla :) Quote
coln72 Posted July 19, 2005 Report Posted July 19, 2005 My first Rolla cost me a slab - for red with a couple of different pearls through it. The club car was the same price - again for a custom mixed colour in 2 pak. Gotta love mates rates :) Quote
