KE70+AE92 Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 hey in the process of turboing a 4k i running the stock carby which has be fitted with larger jets I'm getting a efi fuel pump and regulator soon but i was wondering will the needle and float be able to hold the pressure ill will be running around 6 to 8 psi of boost so that means around 8 to 10 psi for the fuel pressure are there any other carbys out there which i can scab a needle and float off that will fit and stand the pressure another question will i have to use a different spark plugs once its been turboed I'm using bp4ey at the moment and it runs really good with the added fuel and air will i have to change them thanks Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 24, 2010 Report Posted February 24, 2010 The small down draft (32/32 32/36 etc) needle and seat will hold up to 12'ish PSI of fuel pressure. Stock carb won't hold much over 4psi. HOWEVER, this isn't a problem. If you use the right carby turbo rising rate regulator [Click "TAR" in my sig for pics of it] then you can reg it down to 4psi base pressure, and then it'll up itself with boost. Are you also going to use a lift pump/surge tank/main pump? As for spark plugs - get yourself some NGK b7es. Quote
KE70+AE92 Posted February 27, 2010 Author Report Posted February 27, 2010 so if i get rising rate regulator i wont have to change the seat and needle what about when its on boost and is running the higher pressure will it be able to handle it i was going to get a vl external pump and use a regulator Quote
Taz_Rx Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 When its on boost the float bowl will be getting drained.....quickly. So this higher pressure will just make sure its kept topped up with fuel. :hmm: Quote
