Tally Posted August 22, 2010 Author Report Posted August 22, 2010 And car is out exposed to the elements for first time in a while... Will be fish oiling and sealing areas prone to rust. Needs wheels and low badly lol Quote
Tally Posted September 1, 2010 Author Report Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) ok so Ross was kind enough to lend me his 14X6 Advan's for a bit. Pissed off the heavy as Celica stockies, they had 195/75 tires on them :jamie: Smaller tires much better 175/65, need camber tops though and need coilovers to make room for negative camber :blinks: lol wheels stick out hard lol Picking up KE30 axles this week so can change rear end to 4X114.3 Edited September 1, 2010 by Tally Quote
Tally Posted September 2, 2010 Author Report Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) ok so picked up ke30 diff tonight thanks to greenmac80 Now havnt measured it but from doing bit of research have found that it is wider and leaf spring mounts are wider apart, thus wont fit KE25. Next option is to take out KE30 axles and get them shortened so they can fit into the KE25 diff housing... Have read on here to take 5mm off the axle and get them re-splined, can anyone confirm this? Where would I take them to get them shortened and re-splined? have no idea lol... Edited September 2, 2010 by Tally Quote
Raven Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 You don't need to respline it. Just cut off the 5mm each end and make sure the splines are good and slap 'em in. If you don't cut them, be prepared to have KE30 axles with flared ends and no way to get the axles out if you happen to snap one. Pity you didnt notice I had a T-series with a locked centre that would bolt straight in. Would just need to mod the tailshaft which I have one here :hmm: Quote
SLO-030 Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 don't need to get them resplined. Grab an angle grinder and take it easy. either that or PM me. Quote
Tally Posted September 2, 2010 Author Report Posted September 2, 2010 ahh thanks mick, yea thanks for letting me know, knowing me prob would of just chucked them in as is and tried make em fit lol... t series aye... Ryan ill see how I go and let you know, don't really trust myself with an angle grinder lol Going to try get brakes bled tomorrow and get a permit and drive it down to the exhaust shop, see how I go... Just make sure you start from the furthest wheel away from the brake master and work your way to the closest. i.e. rear left, rear right, front left, front right. Or you'll have huge issues :hmm: Quote
SLO-030 Posted September 2, 2010 Report Posted September 2, 2010 No worries man. Pm me whenever :hmm: Quote
Tally Posted September 15, 2010 Author Report Posted September 15, 2010 Woke up and gave it a crank the other day, started first go... EDIT: forget that, went and checked this out today ;) Quote
Tally Posted September 23, 2010 Author Report Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) ok so dropped car off at a mates workshop this morning... Just getting him to get the engine running good as I seriously lost patience with it lol also getting him to shorten and fit the ke30 axles... and getting the exhaust done... should be on the road soon enough and then I can save a penny or two lol (for more mods of course lol) Edited September 23, 2010 by Tally Quote
parrot Posted September 23, 2010 Report Posted September 23, 2010 In the words of the bard, "a man's got to know his limitations" Everyone gets stuck at a limiting point eventually, at these times, a mate is good to get you past it. Quote
Tally Posted September 29, 2010 Author Report Posted September 29, 2010 (edited) Popped down checked on the car today. Engine is running sweet now. Timing was way out. No ballest resistor and electric dizzy meant needed different spark plugs. Needed new rotor and cap for dizzy. Exhaust and axles getting put in sometime soon. Also found out this thing has a LSD center in it! No shit not kidding! Bonus lol, will be interesting to see if the KE30 axles will still fit... Edited September 29, 2010 by Tally Quote
parrot Posted September 29, 2010 Report Posted September 29, 2010 Good news on all fronts! Which diff had the LSD centre in it? The KE30 or whatever was already in it? Quote
