Tally Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 (edited) Ok just to prove this project hasn't gone under ive got the front and rear windscreens in (although rear isn't in in the pic). Have started work on the engine. New water-pump and thermostat housing fitted. Now ive started work on the battery relocation to the rear. Ive got 4 meters of 2 B&S 32mm 255amp cable. Thing is though not sure what I'm going to do with some of these wires hanging off the side of the cable. Was thinking of some sort of terminal block or junction box to just save me the hassle and merge the existing cables together instead of removing old positive cable... And also as the engine is from a KE70 the Bosch alternator has an internal regulator instead of an external one that the car had originally... so not sure what to do with that. son of stig Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 In regards to the alternator problem, have a read of this KE55 alternator into KE20 Quote
Tally Posted July 30, 2010 Author Report Posted July 30, 2010 (edited) ok so wont start, not getting any power... here is the deal... have wired engine up like following: standard liquid cell battery in boot 2 B&S 32mm 255amp cable for both positive and negative battery leads... positive straight to starter motor and negative to earth Wire from B+ on alternator to starter motor wire from D on alternator to i think white/black on old alternator connector on loom joined yellow/white and white/green on regulator loom... these cars are so small to work on from underneath, especially when laying on the ground... need a hoist lol will get pics in the morning, hopefully get it sorted with a fresh mind.... greenmac80 Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 you need to remove the old regulator altogether and join wires. Quote
Tally Posted July 31, 2010 Author Report Posted July 31, 2010 Yea nah I've removed it, problem sorted anyway, bad earth lol, always the case isn't it! Just have to sort out a few minor issues... Quote
SLO-030 Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Where did you earth the battery? A few people have had issuse when they earth it in the boot. Quote
Tally Posted July 31, 2010 Author Report Posted July 31, 2010 Inside passenger rear quarter there was a good solid point. Quote
SLO-030 Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Ahhk, i know of a few people that have done it and reckon not to trust 40yr old steel as a good conductor. Last time i did a battery in boot conversion, i just ran both cables into the engine bay. But as long as it works for you :lolcry: Quote
greenmac80 Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 i did the battery boot bit and earthed the battery to the same point as the fuel tank was worked perfect. Quote
Tally Posted August 2, 2010 Author Report Posted August 2, 2010 Just missed out on a brand new KE25 grill and corner garnishes for this, so pissed off lol ah well, were good price too... Quote
