Stupid question here, think ive done something really stupid..

on the rocker covers there is a breather line... right, so when thats blocked up up completely.. what could happen internally?

i did it, went for a very short drive, pulled up at intersection and noticed heap of smoke from exhaust, lifted bonnet and unblocked breather line, and it went pssssssssssssssssst and let all this air out of the head, then i drove home but now has a bad miss under acceleration, its fine at idle, just not under load

Cheers for all your help people

Lol.............. I hate to be mean but it serves you right doing that and not knowing what it was for. That breather line vents the pressure in the head. So by blocking that up you have created a pressure bomb and most likely blew a seal somewhere. In a worst case scenario you have fudged the rear main seal. but because you have said the engine is now "missing under load" it sound like you have gone to catastrophic fudge up. This is not going to be a cheap fix unless you can do the work yourself. The biggest problem with this is that the weakest point has blown out..... but what is the weakest seal in your engine? that is the expensive question, trying to find the problem.

Good luck finding the problem. I'm sure you wont do this again in a hurry.

I'm with chappo12. Give the thing a good service. New oil for a start, and change the spark plugs for new ones. They'd be covered with burnt oil (and possibly the reason for your miss fire).

If that doesn't work, take it to a good mechanic and tell him what you did.
