demuire Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 From running around trying to find out about all sorts of plastics etc, I discovered 3M Scotchply. This is how it's described: This is a laminated glass/epoxy sheet manufactered under heat and high pressure to give a unique product which is ideal for flat leaf vibrator springs and electrical insulation of rail tracks. Springs can be cut and drilled from stock sheets. And among the many example uses are: automotive springs, trailer springs, and even helicopter rotor blades!!! I have heard, however, that it's not cheap stuff. But I thought it looked interesting! Quote
mikeys toy[RL] Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 a lot of our bottom dump trailers had these springs in them....real hard ride, but i've never seen one break Quote
20V_KE35 Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 not cheap! maybe got to find it in airport scrap yard....so for now what is the alternative to use?? thinking cheap ,lightweight :) Quote
demuire Posted July 15, 2005 Author Report Posted July 15, 2005 For now, you should stick with your standard steel springs :) And no, I looked up the technical data, the ones they use for helicopter blades are a different grade to the ones they use for springs. Quote
Super Jamie Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 if you want to get lightweight leaf springs, http://www.flex-a-form.com/ Quote
kangaroosa Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 I read the first paragraph and thought how much shit can one person speak to sell a product. I'm sure the product is great, but the sales pitch used is crap. How about the pic at the bottom of the page. Trying to blame sagging steel for causing that. Quote
20V_KE35 Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 how much their selling for ke35 leaf?? any one had buy this leaf??? if only i could go there.... Quote
Northen Rolla Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Sales pitch, they were pitching something else to put a girl in a g string at the top of the page, although she is tidy.. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SPRINGS. :( Quote
Northen Rolla Posted July 15, 2005 Report Posted July 15, 2005 Yeah i know,, just can't see the relevence with springs, nice all the same. Quote
