rolladude Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 hey got a ke70 just wondering if there is any way to make my gearstick shorter without dodgily cutting it down? and are they hard to get out? cheers in advance for any help. Quote
corollaart Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Not hard to get out ,remove centre consol ,lift up rubber cover remove circlip. Then you can cut ,but all you will have is a short pain in the ass gear stick. Your not going to make it short shift by cutting it. Lot more to making a short shift than that. rob Quote
RainWarriorDregs Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 i remember someone ages ago with a proper short shifter for a K40 i think it was. They had all the specifications and everything on how to make it, i'm vaguely interested. anyone remember who it was? Quote
irokin Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Was it camdownunder with Redwarfs old stick? Quote
styler Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 proper short shift changes pivot point to enable LESS ANGLE between shifts which results in LESS THROW, short gearstick is the SAME ANGLE as stock but cut down to enable LESS THROW... often the gears are shifted too quickly and it doesnt allow the syncros to do their job and synchronize the next gear selected so i would be careful in what you choose, the key being a comfortable easy to use gearstick in the end... so short shift if you can't cut it down without it being too hard to use... short gearstick if you can cut it down and its easier to use... philbey Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 I pulled a shifter out at a wreckers to chop up and make a short throw shifter prototype like that one, but they were gonna charge me 45 bucks. I was thinking of just profile cutting some spacer plates then people can send me their old shifter and I'll send back a modified one, exchange style. Maybe one day.... Quote

Taz_Rx Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Considering KE3X/5X and Ke70 K50 shifters are vastly different I suggest you double checking that before spending the $250 on one of those TRD shift kits. IIRC the T50 ones are ONLY usable in the KE70 K50's. Quote
