Not hard to get out ,remove centre consol ,lift up rubber cover remove circlip.

Then you can cut ,but all you will have is a short pain in the ass gear stick.

Your not going to make it short shift by cutting it.

Lot more to making a short shift than that.

proper short shift changes pivot point to enable LESS ANGLE between shifts which results in LESS THROW,

short gearstick is the SAME ANGLE as stock but cut down to enable LESS THROW...

often the gears are shifted too quickly and it doesnt allow the syncros to do their

job and synchronize the next gear selected so i would be careful in what you choose,

the key being a comfortable easy to use gearstick in the end...

so short shift if you can't cut it down without it being too hard to use...

short gearstick if you can cut it down and its easier to use...

I pulled a shifter out at a wreckers to chop up and make a short throw shifter prototype like that one, but they were gonna charge me 45 bucks.

I was thinking of just profile cutting some spacer plates then people can send me their old shifter and I'll send back a modified one, exchange style. Maybe one day....

I'd be in on that, no sweat! ;)

Considering KE3X/5X and Ke70 K50 shifters are vastly different I suggest you double checking that before spending the $250 on one of those TRD shift kits. IIRC the T50 ones are ONLY usable in the KE70 K50's.
