Taz_Rx Posted February 3, 2010 Report Posted February 3, 2010 Not much point wacking a turbo onto the 4k. The money in the long run is ridiculous. Your better of throwing a 4age in it. You wont regret going 4age thats for sure. Assumption is the mother of all f@$k-ups mate. My original 4ktc setup cost me around $400. And that would of still beaten 4AGE's. ;) Quote
68RoLLa Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 i think you people who havent tryed both motors don't no what yous are talking about. my opinion is the k motors are good and do make good power but a 4age will deffently beat a k motor. Quote
towe001 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 When i had my 4age powered seca i had the longing for a ke30 as a project and now that i have my 3k powered ke30 for me there is no way i'd step back to a 4age. Maybe a bored and stroked 2t-g or a different pedigree Quote

LukeAE71 Posted February 4, 2010 Report Posted February 4, 2010 The simple reason people look for performance options for K motors is that it is not as simple as just bolting in a 4AGE and off you go. There is quite a bit of modification to engine mounts, cross members all sorts. Not to mention the fact of engine bay space in say a KE10!!! My 4AGE 20V AE71 had 90 odd rwkw lets say in a car that weighs just under 1000kg. If you build the equivalent 5K in a KE10 or 20 which weighs about 700 - 800kg and you get say 70rwkw you would get similar performance due to the weight differences between the two. Also, building a 5K and putting it in said 10 or 20 would be alot cheaper than putting in a 4AGE. Most 4AGE's are tired these days so you would need to add price of rebuild on top and a regular run of the mill one only produces like 80 rwkw or so. If you have a K engined car, there is still some hope for good performance ;) Quote
68RoLLa Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 So you're saying that you have tried both? of course ive tried both i wouldnt of said it other wise. i have a ke10 with a 4age in it for club day use. and anther ke10 with a worked 4k Quote
Redwarf Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 somebody ask Fook if his AE35 ever came close to my KE25. |blink| Quote
towe001 Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 Ok then Fook did your ae35 ever get close to whipping Reds arse ? |blink| Quote
rollagt Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 wow , powerful comments people , and really, can you make a 4k more powerful than a 4age ,if so I'm gonna keep the 4k in the car Quote
styler Posted February 6, 2010 Report Posted February 6, 2010 word of the day is... drivability. be careful when ringing every last hp out a motor, its a pig to drive. the cars purpose, your budget, quality of build desired, time frame, avaliable effort etc etc all will help you to determine what motor in what state suits you best. AE25 Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 i started looking into finding some sort of conversion twincam head for the K's. found that the bore spacing is much wider than the later heads like say 4efe. so gave up. figured the E engines looked like the 3k-r anyway so if you had a custom cam cover made to replicate one.... so why not convert one rwd.. ie a 5efhe and sit some quads and curved ram tubes ... just to keep everyone guessing. a suitably worked 4k/5k can definately give 4ages a run. but std.. haha no way. i've had std 4k and 5k in my ke/kp cars and the std 4age ke25 would own them easy. ok yeah, takes some effort to convert.. but efi = drivability and they love a good thrash. replacements are pretty cheap so why rebuild? chuck some bigends in it with bottom conversion set and new cam belt and give it death! towe001 Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 My guess would be t-50. Cause the ep starlet runs the same fwd gearbox as the fwd corollas http://www.toyotagtturbo.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40146 I've got other links but just to lazy to find them plus i'm leaving for the movies :hmm: Quote
