jack up car

remove wheel

crack the top spring hat nut if you don't have a rattle gun

this will save ALOT of problems - cut a small section out the brake hose holder on the strut with a hacksaw (so you don't need to undo the brake line/ bleed brakes etc etc)

remove the caliper mounting bolts

remove 2 bolts on the steering knuckle

remove the 3 bolts on the spring hat

remove strut Assembly from the car

 

and use a spring compressor then completely remove the spring hat nut when the spring tension is gone

I'm going to re-iterate this point for safety reasons.

The stock springs are captive and have a bit of tension on them already. If you don't hold this tension back in same way it will release when you remove the top hat....... which is liable to smack you in the face!!!

 

So be warned and careful. :jamie:
