snot35 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Anyone tried the reproduction window rubbers on ebay that seem to come from Thailand? Are they any good? What's a good source for window rubbers otherwise, is rarespares the only other option? Cheers Quote
Old fella Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Anyone tried the reproduction window rubbers on ebay that seem to come from Thailand? Are they any good? What's a good source for window rubbers otherwise, is rarespares the only other option? Cheers G`day mate, I recently put new Bailey Channel in my xx70 drivers door. I got them from Clarke Rubber. They sell the stuff by the metre and one window cost about $25 from memory. Just take a sample with you and they sort it from there. Good luck. Quote
silverra23 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 There are mixed reports on the rubbers from Thailand. I put the door rubbers in a KE10 and they seemed OK, and I used the front and rear screen rubbers in a KE35, again seemed OK. But I didn't hold on to those cars long term to see what they ages like. Lots of other people don't rate them at all. Options for rubbers are rare spares, clark rubber, scotts old auto rubber and probably a few others. phil's rotarys in queensland appear to be a reseller of the thai stuff, so don't buy that thinking you will be getting a good deal Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 This was covered a month or so ago. The Thailand rubbers are cheap for a reason. They don't always fit perfectly and begin to perish after a couple of years. Go with Clarke Rubber or Scotts Auto Rubber. I must add, I'm pissed off with Clarke rubber at the moment. Was quoted 1 week to get my windscreen rubbers when I ordered and paid for them... now its going to be 3 weeks. :) Quote
Johno Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 I got new boot rubbers from Clark rubber and they are pretty good. It was expensive though, it think 65 just for the boot Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 I went over and checked my ke25 rubbers after this was discussed last time. they are all ebay rubbers, and fitted perfectly. It has been 2 years, the front screen and door rubbers have aged fine, still soft, the rear screen rubber has started to crack already! I remember when i got them some had different packaging. so, you win some, you lose some, will have to pop the rear screen again in a year or two as it will probably get a heap worse. I paid $150 delivered for the whole kit. Quote
jono1986 Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 Hey mate, don't know where your located, but i got my front windscreen rubber and that strippy thing for my ke35 from Rare Spares on south road, i'm pretty sure they supply all the other rubbers aswell Quote
snot35 Posted February 5, 2010 Author Report Posted February 5, 2010 Yeah I work right by that place. Thanks for the info everyone. I just wondered if the rare spares ones were just the Thai ones at a premium, or if they were actually better. Cheers all! Quote

Well the window rubber fitted perfect, unfortunately though you can't get the original strip so you have to use this other stuff they can supply, looks a bit dodgey cause the bead is round and the corners are flat. The picture below shows what i mean: Quote
JiP Posted February 5, 2010 Report Posted February 5, 2010 I wouldn't go Clark Rubber. They are a reseller. They get their stuff from Spectrum. Spectrum and and either Scotts Auto Rubbers share the same product numbers. So they have the same supplier. I wouldn't buy from them as your paying the price from Spectrum + their commission. Rare spares has a different number its self. So maybe see who is cheaper between Spectrum/Scotts & Rarespares Hope that helps. Quote
