rhys2229 Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Hi i've got a pair of ae86 complete struts to go in my ke70, the guy that sold them to me told me i needed ae86 knuckles to use them in a ke70, but someone else told me that ae86 knuckles are the same as ke70 ones, can anyone help me identify what parts (if any) i need ;) thanks Quote
white_sandshoe Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 by knuckles, what are you meaning??? you'll need to swap the 70 strut tops over, but other than that, it should go straight in... Keep the KE70 lower control and steering arms just to make it a bit simpler, that way it's pretty much two bolts on the bottom of the strut, and one at the top (you can actually do this just by removing the strut top bolt with a rattle gun meaning you can leave the strut top in the car) I recently did this swap in my T18, which is pretty much an identical swap... toyota_ae71 Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 By knuckles you mean steering arms, yeah? You'l need ae86, xt130 or t18 steerings arms to fit them, ke70 ones are slightly too small. One of toyota's great ideas once again haha. Quote
rthy Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 yea as above, the steering arms/knuckles need to be swapped over they shouldn't be hard to get cos every one keeps getting the jdm power steering arms for extra lock Quote
rhys2229 Posted January 22, 2010 Author Report Posted January 22, 2010 yeh i can get a pair of 86 steering arms with outer tierods and ballpoints for $100, does that price sound normal? i would of thought a bit expensive Quote
towe001 Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 If the tierods and ball joints are brand new you'd be looking at the rough end of approx $30 each, i picked up a pair of Corona steering arms for something around 30-40 bucks (pair). So, yeah, sounds like an alright deal. But if their secondhand i'd be more inclined for the arms only and pop into an auto shop for brand new joints. Quote
rhys2229 Posted January 25, 2010 Author Report Posted January 25, 2010 I ended up getting the arms for $50 off someone else, I put the struts in yesterday, alot better ride now :D Quote
