silverra23 Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Um yeah... your time frame for getting club rego sorted is tight nobbler-san... have you got the other paperwork sorted? There is committee meeting on next tuesday night where you should come to get it done. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 19, 2011 Author Report Posted January 19, 2011 No paper work as yet, I hadn't expected to get this far and have it ready so I hadn't got the form. Will have to hit up Vic roads and go from there. Committee meeting sounds like a plan, might have to drop in to get it sorted. JP Quote
jaygore Posted January 19, 2011 Report Posted January 19, 2011 really do hope you get this thing soughted, I wanna check it all out on the trip... to see whether I want to go down the 5k s/c road, or whether to go down the 4agze path. All the best with getting it ready Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 19, 2011 Author Report Posted January 19, 2011 We will see how we go... Unfortunantly I'm not expecting it to happen, but I am still busting my arse on it so it might. As for blown k vs gze, if you can go gze you might as well, unless your a nutter like me and like your k motors! Quote
philbey Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Philbey, I have the part number written down I just have to find it! They are from dfunkts ke20, he may have it written in there. They just screwed straight into the strut, no need for any of the original gear that you have to use with other inserts. And that's a negative on the captive springs, I have 3" left of compression and 3 foot of droop! I went to see my spring maker today, he thinks my springs will be fine as he can't make anything that will stay captive and give a decent ride of hieght. Stock ke20 on springs gave it a monster truck stance as did the 70 ones, lowered or not. My only solution seems to be coilovers :) Yeh hook me up if you can with that number. I have porsche ones that would fit with a spacer but a direct fit would be ideal. The plan is to run coilovers as well, especially seeing how difficult it is to get the damn springs captive. Quote
kickn5k Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 Did you end up getting the beast to work today man? Must have been a late night after kiddies classes. Stu. Quote

As much as I love the k's I think it would just look nice with a 4agze under the bonnet haha, and obviously the ability for more power Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Yep, I made it to work with minimal fuss... Needs a bloody wheel alignment though! And a tune! Was up lateish but I had to be up early to make sure I got to work. Will be a big weekend finishing the car off for final inspection! It actually drives well, need to stiffen the rear up a bit and the tune will help on off throttle transition. Then a bigger exhaust and more fuel up to as well. JP Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Couldn't get hold of him, I think it's a problem on my end... Bloody phone. But I did get hold of Cliff, a little closer to home. Will see what I still need to do tonight. JP Quote
kickn5k Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Wweeellll? You should have taken your tunning drills to work for some lunchtime enrichment. Stu. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 21, 2011 Author Report Posted January 21, 2011 Keep your pants on Stu! It's all happening, rust repairs today and tomorrow and paining the boot and guard. Just a couple of little things too sort after then and it's all good. Then I have to tune the bastard! I think it needs less fuel down low but more up top. Will hopefully be borrowing a sniffer through the week to get it reasonable. I'm still using less fuel than the kickn5k blown injected beast though! But I still used about 16l foraround 100km. kickn5k Posted January 22, 2011 Report Posted January 22, 2011 I don't know about that my car only gets thirsty in traffic. It's good on a cold night but in the heat if the cooler gets a bit of soak and then it compensates for it and it runs rich. I reckon I may try and aim for 12ltr/100km for hanging rock otherwise I may need a Jerry can to get me there. Transitional throttle may end up being a tuff one to chase. Oh and with that brake pedal softness have you tried the master cyl off the other car? Stu. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 22, 2011 Author Report Posted January 22, 2011 Negative on the brakes, it stops well enough to lock the fronts at the moment. Will be done though to see what difference it makes. I think it's just the fact that the small master is trying to fill the much bigger ke70 brakes so it has to shift more fluid out. The galant master upgrade will sort it out. Rust it all cut out today along with a muffler change. Also the front guard has been painted, complete with overspray that needs to be buffed off... Had paint mixed up but it's not quite the right colour. But it's white! Will do until I spray the whole car. Needs another coat tomorrow when I finish the boot then I can spray the sills black again after the rust repairs. Coming along! Pix soon. JP Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 24, 2011 Author Report Posted January 24, 2011 What's more fun (*caugh* stupidly fun) than a ke1x corolla in the wet on the way to work? A Blown 5k powered ke1x corolla! First drive in the rain was a wild one, ended up leaving the line in second to try and tame the wheel spin and short shifting into 3rd to keep it straight... I broke my thermo fan switch that's next to the blower on off switch, if I turn the blower off it moves the fan switch and turns it off! Not a good combo in traffic! Will be fixing it before work for a more sedate drive home :) JP Quote
