Went up to my old ladys joint to get a boot load of car parts Went to the wreckers and had a absoulute shit of a time trying to get parts 2 things I went in for... Twinky Fuel lines - FAIL. ;) Spent 1 hour trying to get the dam thing out, everything was in the way. 4age dash loom - FAIL Couldnt be f@$ked afer spending 2 hours there already after getting wet in the rain trying to get other stuff Instead I got a vacume sensor, ECU holder and front swaybar. Johno Posted February 16, 2010 Author Report Posted February 16, 2010 Update, Getting things ready to install on the sedan. Engine is still at the mechanics. He had a problem trying to find a brand new water pump. I should have it back end of this week. I have painted, the new sway bar, EFI fuel tank, and extractors. Flushed out the old radiator from the seca and cleaned the outside ready for some new paint. Thinking of painting it silver. Put my mags on, got the Series 1 front bumper bar up to topcoat stage, pulled the 2" exhaust out of the seca (got it out in one piece with the cat :P ) Went to the wreckers to get a 4age exhaust bit but someone decided to cut the end off where it meets up with the cat with an angle grinder so it was useless to me :bash: Here is a pile of car bits that i abandoned at my mums place, weeds kinda took over Engine loaded in the boot of the ford ready to take to the mechanics Some things i been doing over the last few weeks Next thing to do is take the car to a mates house to.. Take 4ac motor out Put 4age motor in (Sounds easy but I'm sure it wont be) Change Front brakes to Ae94 rotors and calipers Put twinky disk brake setup on rear Install 2" sports exhaust Install Front Sway Bar Twinky fuel tank and lines All things above i have apart from twinky fuel lines and 4age exhaust elbow (the bit that's between the manifold and cat) I also have to get the O2 sensor mount welded into the elbow. I still have heaps to go but its looking good so far. :) Cheers, Johno :bash: Quote

Doogs Posted February 16, 2010 Report Posted February 16, 2010 Yeah, umm... saftey gear. About that, I sort of didn't have any and I kinda got poisoned and had massive headache and nearly had a seizure so no more painting till I get a mask :) Ahhh ok, rightio. I am sometimes a bit lazy with spraying Acrylic, but don't think I'd do the same with 2pack. Don't mean to sound like your mother but the safety stuff is probably a good idea in this case! Keep going man. Quote
Johno Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 Ahhh ok, rightio. I am sometimes a bit lazy with spraying Acrylic, but don't think I'd do the same with 2pack. Don't mean to sound like your mother but the safety stuff is probably a good idea in this case!Keep going man. Yeah, i had alot of people say I'm an idiot and a dick head for doing it. The symptoms lasted about 10 days after. I am a painter by trade so I'm used to paint smells but the 2 pack is a whole different kettle of fish. I just thought wearing a mask was for soft cocks who don't like the smell, How wrong was I??! :hmm: Quote
Johno Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) A few more pics :y: Comparing tire width My Fav Pic :hmm: This is what i have been doing yesterday, I'm changing the old dash loom with a twinky ECU loom. Notice the glad zip bags on the floor? This time i have numbered everything and put in bags with what screws go where. Then i can work back through the numbers and hopefully get it all back together Edited February 19, 2010 by Johno Quote
Hans Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 good job mate, car is looking really good! I'm inspired now :hmm: Quote
Johno Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 Thanks Yuvi :y: Ok so I got the dash all back together, not one single screw left over (thats a first :hmm: ) ECU is bolted in, Twinky Dash cluster is in, loom fits. everything is ok i think apart from 3 little things 1. When I put the indicators on they blink real slow then stopped working altogether 2. I'm not sure if this is standard with twinky dash clusters or not but when i turn the ignition on the Tacho needle will very slightly rise up (showing about 50 RPM) is that normal? 3. 4ac engine wont start now, I'm not too concerned because its either from a flat battery but i would have thought the starter motor would have made some noise or the other reason is just because its a different loom but the 4ac plugs connect into it. Anyone got an answer to problem 2? Quote
Teddy Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Hell yeah Man ! Lovin the thread :hmm: Gives me inspiration to pull my finger out and get blue' done. Keep up the great work :y: Quote
Johno Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 Thanks Ted, yeah get the 70 on the road and drive it down for the Gor5, sure it will be better than driving that camry around.. Lol :hmm: Quote
Johno Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 (edited) Here's the latest pics Had to solder the ECU Loom together because someone decided cutting is better than unclipping, same goes with alot of other parts i wanted from a twinky at the wreckers just like the fuel lines i had almost got out a few days before :hmm: Dash all back together with twinky goodness! :y: Edited February 20, 2010 by Johno Quote
Hans Posted February 21, 2010 Report Posted February 21, 2010 good stuff johno! this thread gives me motivation believe it or not. can you elaborate this 2. I'm not sure if this is standard with twinky dash clusters or not but when i turn the ignition on the Tacho needle will very slightly rise up (showing about 50 RPM) is that normal? Quote

Johno Posted February 21, 2010 Author Report Posted February 21, 2010 (edited) good stuff johno! this thread gives me motivation believe it or not. can you elaborate this Ok, Umm.. when everything is off the RPM needle sits on zero like normal, when I turn the key to the on position the RPM needle will sit on about 50 RPM without the engine started Edited February 21, 2010 by Johno Quote
Johno Posted February 21, 2010 Author Report Posted February 21, 2010 Todays progress consisted of going to the local wreckers and grabbing some more twinky bits. Took me about 3 hours but i finally got the twinky fuel lines and exhaust flange ;) Exhaust was easy but the fuel lines... well it was a right c**t of a job to say the least. :) Had to remove the front sway bar, chassis bar, heater hoses, soot canister, air box, brake lines, fuel tank, back seat and after all that was out had to pull it through the wheel that was holding the car up. All without kinking the lines. I had brake fluid and petrol all down my arms and nuts and bolts jabbing me in the back the whole time. Quote
