Trev Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Now that you have a recorded 87hp go stick the JDM ecu in it. Quote
redae71 Posted May 1, 2010 Report Posted May 1, 2010 nice work mate looking good, i have a ae82 sedan with a silvertop 20v, not as clean as yours but it does the job lol... mine made 101hp atw with 10:1 AFR's so i still got a bit to get out of it. this thread makes me want to clean mine up a bit but I'm preoccupied with the drift car atm. Johno Posted May 13, 2010 Author Report Posted May 13, 2010 Little update. Been driving it around everywhere. Its pretty much my daily now ;) Got a wheel alignment done today, it was out a fair bit. I had a scare when it rained and had to drive home. Anytime i went through a large puddle it would pull the steering wheel out of my hand and want to aqua plane. got it fixed now. Chucked a Jdm Ecu in. Got a second dyno run. getting 65.5fwkw and increased the torque to 235Nm on the ground. Its running a bit more rich but its more responsive with a better power curve down low. And last the head gasket blew today. ;) Any suggestions what i could do to the head while its off? Quote
Johno Posted May 14, 2010 Author Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hehe, yeah that would be nice ;) False alarm, head gasket is ok ;) Quote
Evan G Posted May 14, 2010 Report Posted May 14, 2010 Hehe, yeah that would be nice :lolcry: False alarm, head gasket is ok ;) what caused the milky in the oil cap? does this mean trev was correct? shave down the head and port el polisho ;) Quote
Johno Posted May 15, 2010 Author Report Posted May 15, 2010 Yeah, trev was right, both times the oil cap has been milky it turned out later that it was condensation. I wouldnt mind shaving the head a bit more, get a 0.8 gasket and polish the exhaust ports. Thats if the head was to come off Quote
Trev Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 Would of been a PITA to pull it apart and find that. Quote
Paul Posted May 16, 2010 Report Posted May 16, 2010 I like what you've done with this car so far. Needs twinky stickers though. Quote
Johno Posted May 22, 2010 Author Report Posted May 22, 2010 (edited) Cheers :( Still not sure whats happening to this.. still doing strange things :P Hunting idle comes and goes Oil cap has gone like a chocolate milkshake but oil is still clear honey in the sump then the oil cap clears up again :D sometimes I hear water under dash then other times not, even with heater on. I'm loosing water from somewhere but can't find a leak Temp gauge almost goes to red then back down to half again and does this 3-4 times on a 40min drive big oil leak from cam covers and front of cam gear housing and some leaks from the head on gearbox side I feel like just taking it to the mechanics to get all fixed but wheres the fun in that (plus it costs money) and I'm broke ATM  and not only that, my daily decided to blow a heater hose today, prob jealous that i been with the corolla for so long. EL fords are a prick to work on, just had to help my mate change a coil on his EB. AND i have to work tomorrow just get get some cash together so i can't work on either car :hmm: Edited May 22, 2010 by Johno Quote
colonel Posted May 23, 2010 Report Posted May 23, 2010 The water under the dash & The temp guage rising then falling could be caused by an air lock in your cooling system. Try idling the car for a while with the radiator cap off and see if any of it bubbles to the top. Quote
