white_sandshoe Posted June 25, 2010 Author Report Posted June 25, 2010 any updates on this? Very soon... Ummm... body is getting slowly prepped for paint. surprisingly the colour scheme hasn't changed, but the engine setup has... I scored a CT09 and 7K EFI, so that'll be going onto a 5K fitted with 4AGE pistons and rods, along with a 3KB head I had laying around... Engine is currently on the stand awaiting a bit of lovin, but other people's sh*t keeps detracting from my time. Quote
xmoht Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Why do people keep buying up the 5K's with the intention of blowing them up before moving onto something better! Quote
Doogs Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 Why do people keep buying up the 5K's with the intention of blowing them up before moving onto something better! He is still using the 5k... Just doing a few more trick mods to it. I really don't understand why you are complaining mate. "CT09 and 7K EFI, so that'll be going onto a 5K fitted with 4AGE pistons and rods, along with a 3KB head" Sounds pretty good to me ! Quote

Was more talking about, "Yeah, i kinda wanted to know the limits of the SC12, but i'll still put it on in place of an SC14 as I have something much different in mind to upgrade to when (not if, but WHEN) she goes bang... But it's a secret..." Perhaps I'm taking it too literally, just read a lot of guys buy 5Ks and specifically say that they're expecting to root them. Quote

But it's a secret..." Perhaps I'm taking it too literally, just read a lot of guys buy 5Ks and specifically say that they're expecting to root them. It's sorta one of those things... I understand that to get any sort of performance, I'm going to have to either give up "cheap" or "reliable"... and I don't wanna give up "cheap". I'm not going out with the intention of destroying the 5K, but I'm not expecting it to last all that long with the sort of HP figures I'd like... (though that's changed a little now, as I don't wanna leave the wife stranded with a blown motor.) The intended upgrade was a 2TG, which was going to get a 3TGTE turbo manifold and T28... But IF I do decide to do that, I'll be after a few years of the wife driving (and not crashing) with the 5K turbo. I ended up selling the SC12 too... Quote
abbott Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 awesome man its sounding good :blinks: i hope to put a 2tg in my ke20 one day once i get a little more cash coming my way! can't wait to see some pictures of it all coming together keep us updated  Quote

white_sandshoe Posted May 20, 2012 Author Report Posted May 20, 2012 Hey all... Tripped over this lovely old thread. Life got in the way, shifted to Darwin, and it got shoved to the back of the shed. Not in a bad way either... She's been fully stripped back, everything pulled out that can be, and kept nice and dry. She is playing second fiddle to another project I'm working on, but she is definitely not forgotten. She's also gained a younger sister! The engine combo I've pieced together originally for her is now going into a KE15, and the sub 100,000km 7KE I pulled out of a crashed Liteace (with G52 gearbox which fits in the trans tunnel, i might add) is now on the engine stand waiting for the V6 T18 to get built, so I can do the sump and engine mounts to slot her in... It's going to be about 3 months before I start playing with her again, but she's next in line! Quote
parrot Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 So would this happen to be the white KE15 that sold at Shannon's in Melb a little while back???? Quote
white_sandshoe Posted May 21, 2012 Author Report Posted May 21, 2012 it made its way to Perth, and yes, now resides in my collection. :P dude who bought it from Shannons sold it on to me for a decent price. It's intended to be my daughter's car, provided she likes it when she gets to driving age... a small part of me hopes she won't. lol Quote
parrot Posted May 23, 2012 Report Posted May 23, 2012 It doesn't have a dealer sticker on the back window does it? Desperately keen to get clear photo's and dimensions of original dealer stickers. I found out about this car one week AFTER it sold. Turns out it belonged to the father of my kids school friends, who live around the corner. Small world. He nearly died when by chance we started talking cars and he found out what I had and my slight fanaticism...... Quote
parrot Posted June 6, 2012 Report Posted June 6, 2012 Was just chatting to him tonight and I know it didn't have a dealer sticker on it. He says if you want the original Victorian plates, PM me an address and he'll send them over. Quote
white_sandshoe Posted June 6, 2012 Author Report Posted June 6, 2012 Not overly fussed on plates... I'm not keeping it standard, and I lack the necessary nostalgia. I guess that's the problem with these sorts of cars falling into the hands of modifiers, not restorers. Speaking of it, I picked up a Carb off a 12A turbo. Factory blow through... That'll make it's way onto the 5K at some point. And, in the mean time, got a decent 4K, and borrowing a side draught Weber off a mate. :P Need to re-trim the seats, and have a look at suspension bushings and brakes... Then see if she can get licensed. Quote
