lanceishere Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Hey guys, getting a bit bored with my standard ke70 wheel and I was wondering what I should be looking for as a replacement? At the moment i'm looking at nardi deep corns, but I don't know weather to go perforated leather or suede... And after that, I'm not too sure If it's what I'm really after, I just know it's pretty :jamie: I want a nice comfortable wheel I can use daily, but still have a decent wheel for the odd track day. A Deep corn do the job? Probably a stupid post, but oh well Quote
seabiscuit Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Your answer lies in the users preference, which can only be answered by the user! Go and feel up some perforated leather and then some suede and decide what you like. Quote
jono1986 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 um...there's this stuff that this guy at work talks about all the time, he used to work at McClaren in england it's called 'alcantara'. it's used in the new lambo's interior, i felt the stuff and am going to try and gt my steering wheel done Quote
jason12 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 Have a look at the GKTECH wheels, havent felt or used one personally but i hear good things Quote
silverra23 Posted January 11, 2010 Report Posted January 11, 2010 suede will end up looking shite faster than a normal leather one. the combination of sweat from your hands, along with any grease you might have around etc quickly makes the suede mat together and look worn pretty quick suede will wear faster too, but depends whether you are racing it / drifting it or driving it to the shops as to how fast that will be :P Quote
lanceishere Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 thanks guys, i think i'll go with a nice perforated leather rip-off deep corn and see how it goes... :P Quote
irokin Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I'd strongly encourage you to get a genuine one. Buying rip offs does not support the innovator and does not create new products. Besides you'll get a better product anyway. Companies that make their business in knockoffs are slowly killing the aftermarket performance parts industry. Quote
lanceishere Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 the rip-off is temporary, and i'm not expecting much for $100... if i like it i'll get a genuine one (the $400 price tag is the only thing stopping me from getting a genuine one, i'm one broke kid) i have big plans for my beastie, the only issue at the moment is money :P Quote
jono1986 Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Just remember though that the cheapo's haven't been through testing and things like that, which make them illegal. Was going to get a cheap one for my first car and the guy in the shop said each legal steering wheel goes through like $10,000 of testing, thats why they cost 400 bucks Quote
