But yeah.. gimme the effing exhaust.. :y:

Who give a rats about your brother.. :lolcry:

We might replace the exhaust and in which case you are first in line. The one on there looks in reasonable condition.

I wouldn't want you to hold your breath though :jamie:

I found two different types of standard exhausts when i was putting my ke20 together, between AMI and Jap models.

Both had single inlets from headers (i think the twin inlets started in the ke3x onward?) but the mounts to the body were different, and the flange between the front pipe (from headers) and rear section were too.

The Jap model has an actual 2 bolt flange, the AMI model was just 2 pipes pressed over each other with a clamp.

Therefore the mounts on the body are different between the aussie/jap model too.

That said though, I ended up putting a jap standard system together for my aussie ke20 by swapping a few bits (no welding required).

And also a half jap/ half aussie system onto a Jap KE25.

Or even better, just fork out a bit for a new one :jamie:

I'm not a forker.. :y:

I don't like the idea of spending half the cost of the car on something. :y:

hey I'm not a forker either... like i say, i just made up one out of a few old ones.

but doesnt change the fact that the fastest and easiest way to solve many such problems will be forking :P

yep. Because most people with exhausts are...... probably using them.

The other thing is, it's often tricky to get exhausts out of a car without chopping something (unless of course it's jointed) so you'll probably find that most of them are knackered or cut into bits. If you can weld a new one in, then why not just buy some bends and straights from an exhaust shop for a few bucks and do it yourself?

Its not hard. All you need is an oxy and some pipe. Made on of my KE20 exhausts using sections of truck exhaust picked up for nothing, an oxy and some of mums wire coat hangers to use as filler wire. Cheated though, went under the diff instead of over it :P Think it sounded better than the shop built system we replaced it with.

That's actually something I was thinking about.

Not that I have ANY idea whatsoever how to weld..

Could probably do it with one monster straight section and a couple of bends...

Where to you get all that stuff?

Old man repaired firetrucks for a living so I used to be able to "acquire" stuff........

Ballarat had some of the only firetrucks running extractors and 4" dump pipes out each side

exhaust shops will sell you exhaust pipe lengths and bends. There's a place on Deacon avenue, in between richmond road and south check them out. I got a load of bends with some flaws for nothing!

That'd be AAA then?

Or the pipe bending place next door? ;)

I want someone to make a straight through 1.5" exhaust for a near stock engine and see how it goes, noise and performance wise.....

Robert.

TBH.. it wasn''t all that loud, until you really stuck you foot in..
