Evan G Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 (edited) just don't put motorbike fork oil in them because its a waste of time and you do NOT feel any difference what so ever. expect half a day wasted in the shed and $30 on oil! go for a pedders/ monroe gas rider insert Edited January 4, 2010 by Evan G Quote
sam k Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Have a look at Boge shocks, they do an insert for corolla's. They feel good and give nice handiling, and around $130 per shock. Quote
RedKE30 Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 I've used Monroe GT Gas, I believe they use the same shock as the rear of a VS commodore, can anyone confirm? Quote
towe001 Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 For the ke3x-5x sedan and coupe, yes - 15-3137. But thats for the VB through to the VS wagon with standard ride height Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Go a shock shop that has a shock & spring tester and get shocks that are matched to your springs. Kings will probably have data on their springs and recommended shocks to suit. Konis would be better than most, fully adjustable and able to be rebuilt. Quote

I wouldnt call that fully adjustable. That being said they are excellent shocks. Quote
silverra23 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 Koni don't make an insert to suit a KE55 housing either unfortunately. Hence why people sometimes look at the Corona XT130 strut/brake upgrade. Quote
blktoy35 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 if your on a budget just get some monroe gas strut inserts and boot/bump stop kit if required for the front. the rear you could use kyb front shocks from suzuki sierra which are stiff and shorter so suit if lowered around 2inches. Quote

Hence why people sometimes look at the Corona XT130 strut/brake upgrade. Yes Koni don't make Ke55 shock...... but you can use the adjustables from the rear of an AW11 MR2. The body of the shock is a bit shorter though and needs some big washers as spacers, but this will also suit a lowered spring better and keep it captive. :P Quote

AGX are a bit more at about 250$ each or so. 4-way adjustable though! Quote
