greenmac80 Posted August 14, 2011 Author Report Posted August 14, 2011 been slowly chipping away at the boot install i have no clue what i'm doing so i'm winging it. so far so good.. bit dodgy here and there but once wrapped you'd never know.. my first ever sub box... haven't cut the hole for the speaker yet because i haven't decided to go the soundstream 10"square or the 12" round both need the same volume of air.. ish in a sealed box.. but it give me an idea of installation. once the hole has been cut i will caulk all the seams to make sure its airtight and line the inside with sound deadening foam. next is the first amp needs to be redone as i figured out a better way of doing it but you get the picture. and then back of the boot and the soon to be battery location (will be hidden behind a facia) and the floor space left is twice as much as before. cheers. more at the end of the week. Onikage Posted August 30, 2011 Report Posted August 30, 2011 Nice job with the airbrushing, one way to make plastics stand out. Boot install looks tidy and practical, what are you going to cover up the wood with? Quote
greenmac80 Posted August 30, 2011 Author Report Posted August 30, 2011 cheers i just purchased another airbrush and some more stencils so i can try some more stuff. carpetted bottom.. quilted sides and front with downlights and possible metal airbrushed highlights. Quote
greenmac80 Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 aight so engine mounts tacked together and supporting the motor. i had to mod my g/box x member a bit to push it all back further.. the motor is now 30mm further back than it was.. i have the ability to go back further (20mm) but it aint worth it as i'd need to get my tailshaft shortened then i'd need to redo the g/box shifter hole etcetc.. the motor is still now quite a but further back than a k motor and its also a lighter motor methinks.. so still a massive improvement over standard. motor is alops uprighted a bit as oil was pooling in one side of the head.. stock 5e sump is on it now so less chance of oil leaks and more oil to hold. anyway pics.. will be taking this all to work for cleaning up extra bracing and powdercoating.. \ and its nice and low... a smidgen higher than it was but i'm still really happy with it.. the driveline angle is almost striaght.. ninja-philbo Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 hmm hope she doesn't have a miss haha ul feel it all Quote
greenmac80 Posted September 9, 2011 Author Report Posted September 9, 2011 and the mounts and x member are finished finally.. took ages welding grinding welding more. etc etc. looks killer though.. Quote
greenmac80 Posted September 11, 2011 Author Report Posted September 11, 2011 starting again with the boot.. not rushing anything anymore.. over it. i have another daily so i'm in no rush whatsoever. ok so i took the bracing out.. i then made a frame made it too big so it has now been cut in half. it will be welded in once i finish painting the boot. frame after quite alot of cleaning my boot looked like this. i then proceeded to paint it with a brush.. i could've sprayed it on but this paint is more about function than looks,. it is similar to por15 and it cures with moisture. so its a preventative for further rusting.. thought i'd coat the whole boot in it. once its dry i can put all the wiring in there and finish off the rest of the bits.
