SLW42 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 good way to test ya presure it to make a plate or something to cover the sump and fill it with water and blow compressed air into it and it should force the water out of anyholes Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 8, 2011 Author Report Posted January 8, 2011 hmmm good idea but very tricky with the shape of the sump.. Â so today since the g/box and motor are mated properly i sorted out the g/box mount.. since i've had to rotate the box a bit the normale mounts needed modifying.. turned out to be much easier than i originally thought. Â also my inlet mnifold is 90% finished just need to put a support on and add the vaccum fittings. looks very 'race' to me.. i'll trick it out a bit with some nice paint once its done. Â Â Â Quote
Trev Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Why didn't you offset the manifold so the rear closer to the head. Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 i modelled it off the standard one.. just straight... and for simplicity. Quote
philbey Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 What did the flake gun cost you? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about dry flaking, whAt size is that gun good for? Quote
Sam_Q Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 make sure you put a nice brace or two between the bottom of the manifold to the block ok? So do you have bellmouths inside? Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 the flake gun was $98 bucks. and i can't tell you how big it can go.. doesn't say anywhere. but i imagine since its a DNA gun you'd be able to do the biggest flake they make.. which is something like 1000microns. Â sam yeah i will be having a brace.. need to redo my engine mounts first i'll probs integrate it into that. Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 ok so here are my dummy extractors. tomorrow i'll take this to an exhaust shop and see if and how much to bends the pipes up for me. Â then i can put it all together. i have 2 collectors on their way should be here next week. Â they are equal length extractors. Â Â Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Report Posted January 10, 2011 ok so i take the pipes in and the extractors will be waiting a while... quoted $220 for the bends alone and then i have to make em myself. Quote
Sam_Q Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 that doesn't sound right, you where quoted for prebent mandrel pipes right? was it stainless or something Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Report Posted January 10, 2011 nope not stainless jst prebent mandrel bends. Quote
Sam_Q Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 go to another place because that's obscene. How many 180 degree bends did you get quoted on? Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted January 10, 2011 Report Posted January 10, 2011 check this out, pretty tidy, same engine I'm pretty sure, a bit too front mounted for my liking though. Â http://www.performanceforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67216626 Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Report Posted January 10, 2011 Yeah i've seen it. Looks the goods. There isn't much of an option but to mount it about there unless you modify the oil pickup and change the sump a huge amount. Or mount it heaps high. Or completely change the engine x member. As it is mine looks a little more rearward and its still 30mm further back than a k motor. Quote
