oh what a nissan feeling! Posted March 23, 2010 Author Report Posted March 23, 2010 cheers man. Yeh gonna try and buff it off i guess. The 7mge is staying for a while, maybe for good, its just a daily, so hopefully i can resist going over the top with it. Just fitted the front screen with new rubber, went in nice and easy. Quote
Johno Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Just read the whole thread, nice car. I've never seen one of those before ;) Too bad about all the rust, at least you have it under control now. Its good to see you didn't just bog over it like me.. haha  Your making good time with this considering you redone the engine, got the rust out and resprayed it. Quick and easy works for me too, still have to work like a dog though.. :o Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 yep, it takes a heap of time and effort that is for sure! Diff housing is in, and bolted down for good. Havent got the axels and stuff in yet, sorting out some different studs. Finally buffed the car, it has been sanded for weeks, but now it is all very flat and shiny! Sorted out why headlights don't work, buggered relay and dash switch, all fixed now though. Also remounted fuel pump, it was swinging under the car by a chain of zippy ties, now bolted firmly to the chassis. Have tracked down a set of r31 handbrake cables, so will pick them up soon, the factory crown has a centre pull single cable type arrangement so will set up the r31 ones instead. Bought some paint for the door cards too, they are red, and the seats and everything else is tan, so will spray these with the colormatched paint. Working away again as always so progress is weak, the list is getting shorter though. to do: assemble diff with new studs. make brake lines for diff. bleed brakes. make inspection cover for gearbox so animals don't get eaten by flywheel. Get tailshaft made. Fit r31 handbrake cables. Fit all trims internal and external, sunvisors ect. Fix exhaust side exit (not legal) Maybe fit retractable seatbelts too for mods approval. Damn, i think i will stop thinking about it actually...............................way too much to go....................... Quote

oh what a nissan feeling! Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 This has been in for rwc last thursday, i probably should have looked over it a bit more, needs a whole lot done, 29 items to be exact.... I knew about a few of the item but ran out of time to fix them, i descovered a whole lot more on the way to the rwc as well! I have spent the week before the rwc fixing up some very very bodgy, half arsed wiring attempts on the crown, but it appears i only fixed half of it, things have been messed with everywhere, none of the usual factory items work as they should!!! the biggest thing being the rust in the tailgate, i never fixed the tailgate as i decided it was not worth fixing, although it looked ok from the outside i could tell it had a full tin of bodgy bog repairs in it. In the last few months it already started to break out rust in the corners - the reason i got picked for it. I Still doubt i will find a good replacement, so have begun the repairs on mine. I'm not disappointed by the long list, as i got a proper rwc condition for this reason, i want the car to be safe and reliable, plus because of the quality of all the previous work i really need to know what i have missed! Anyways about 3 weeks i recon, and it be cruising the streets. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted July 19, 2010 Author Report Posted July 19, 2010 also, my pajero transfer case to 4l60e adaptor arrived, so I'm about to attempt the task of fitting a new output shaft to a vx auto gearbox.....wish me luck! Quote

Taz_Rx Posted August 6, 2010 Report Posted August 6, 2010 What I list!!! ....but if anybody can do it, you can mate. I admire the work you put into your cars! :fuzz: This might help RE bleeding the brakes..... You need to keep bleeding them until this air noise stops. Might be work making yourself a "brake bong". Get an old 600ml drink bottle and 30cm or so of vacuum line (that will fit over the bleed nipple. Pore 50ml or so of brake fluid into the bottle (old fluid is fine) so that the vacuum line is under the level of fluid. Now bleed the brakes again with the bong attached to the bleed nipple. If air is coming out you'll see bubbles coming up through the fluid. Keep bleeding until the bubbles stop. Using a brake bong like this you can actually bleed brakes by yourself!! Fill the bottle with some new fluid and attach to the the LOSSENED bleed nipple. Then start pumping the pedal - when you pump it it wall push air/fluid out as per normal, then when you release the pedal fluid will be sucked back into the caliper from the bottle..... as long as the end of the vacuum line is under the fluid. :) :D Quote
