oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Always wanted one of these, my parents had one in the paddock when i was growing up, so i really wanted a crown wagon 67-71. sooo.... This is my wags, i bought it a few years ago off ebay from sydney, sight unseen. A pretty dumb thing to do, but was unable to fly down and view it due to work. Here is some pics from the previous owner. When it arrived, it was pretty rusty, the previous owner said 'rust free', i think he meant 'free rust'. It also had a bottom end knock he failed to mention..... oh, and the diff is buggered........ Anyways, that will learn me for buying a car without viewing it!! So, i stripped the roof back to check out how bad the rust really was, and to see if the car was worth repairing. Also bought some new cheap rubbers off american ebay. And recently i have started to work on it again..... Quote
parrot Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 Awesome o! Another great car reappears. You're going to get rid of those wheels though.......aren't you. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 The progress from the other week, cut from my other thread. Cut the gutters off, and welded up the seam. 2 new patches on drivers side, which is the good side! Passenger side sections cut out This one at the front This one at the rear. Have welded it all up now, but lost the pics, might take some more now. Quote
PMP020 Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 its a very sweet wags. not sure about the wheels tho? what are ur thought on them ? as always, you do fantastic work  cheers, scott Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 24, 2009 Author Report Posted December 24, 2009 Thanks mate. I don't mind the wheels too much, i wouldn't have chosen them, but they have new tread so they will be there for a while before i have to make any decisions. roof is done, except for around the screen, which i have now popped out. The amazing 7m I Cut out all the rust yesterday, so its all ready for some new metal. Drivers side, at the bottom of both doors, need to replace a bit of the inner panel on the passenger door too. drivers guard bottom, a bogged up rust hole DS passenger door again, the worst panel on the car, except for the tailgate, which is made entirely of bog from what i can tell. DS sill, i actually found a proper rust repair! but it needs more. bonnet, needs under panel done too. PS guard, bogged up previously. Between the two PS doors at the bottom. Rear PS door. screen out screen rust, both top corners. Have fixed the bonnet yesterday, but the camera is flat, Quote
cuzzo Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 So much for being rust free. Engine conversion plans? Quote
JiP Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 Wow Matt moving along fast there. She is going to look awesome when done. What colour you going? Staying the same? Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 25, 2009 Author Report Posted December 25, 2009 Yeah, lots of rust, if i do it properly and go crazy with the rust proof, hopefully it will stay away. Not really any immediate conversion plans, it gets along quite well. 1uz is probably the most tempting though. Will see how it tows, and what sort of trouble the notorious 7m gives i guess. My brother is stuffing aroung with 2js atm, so i will probably leave them to him. Any crazy ideas? No colour change, would love to, but I'm in a bit of a hurry, Ive borrowed the oldies car atm, so this will be my next driver if all goes to plan. Not working on it today though, giving the neighbours a break from the noise Quote
parrot Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 I have to say I am really enjoying these detail pics of your rust repair. I reckon stay with the orange (or is it solar red?), Dfunkt's MS65 looks great in what I imagine is the same colour. Quote
Doogs Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 Great wagon mate, pity about the dis-honest seller. I will be glad to see you patch up all that rust and make a nice cruiser out of it. Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 25, 2009 Author Report Posted December 25, 2009 Yeh the colour is orange man, its actually the old hemi orange, photos do make it hard to tell, i will keep the pics coming as i go. Dishonest seller is half my fault really, i shouldn't have bought it without viewing, lesson learned! The bonnet repairs from yesterday. underneath top with underneath done top done Quote

JiP Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 Well I hope you keep it this colour. I must admit I am a fan of Orange. Looks hot. Plus its a high viability colour which is meant to be safer. Quote
