Teddy Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 ah... how hard would it be for me to get club membership? Quote
demuire Posted January 28, 2004 Author Report Posted January 28, 2004 Hmm, have now lost my navigator so probably won't be doing this (since my mom's visiting too...) Oh well... Quote
99 Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 For those of you that missed out, the Motor Show Rally was very cool. Actually, it was a bloody hot day and I have the sunburn to prove it!! Anyhoo, I helped out by course checking about 2 weeks ago and it went all places - some fat winding roads up Mount Tambourine and around Canungra, through the CBD, out the back of Greenbank - all sorts. I got to be smiley stamp girl at a passage control but don't remember any rollas? But definitely remember: - black RX8 (GORGEOUS!! :D ) - verree nice brand new Madza 3 - a stunning BMW M3 - 300ZX driven by this cool chick that made her boyfriend nav!! :D and a variety regular streetwear including a few cute minis (of the old and new variety), WRXs, a rally gemini etc I also got to be drinks/grease monkey chick at the end ... all in all, a great way to meet new people interested in joining in club activities. Notwithstanding minor arguments over questions and answers (how many ducks?!), everyone seemed to be smiling at the end.... an enjoyable day really. You guys really got to get to some events!!! datgirl Quote
Redwarf Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 Is that Datgirl, or Duckgirl?? :Þ Quote
demuire Posted February 11, 2004 Author Report Posted February 11, 2004 In the spirit of Justin's "on-topic" effort, have moved the rest of these posts to Horse Riding (Off Topic) *edit* Rob: What's with the Duck thing? I keep hearing references to ducks of some sort every so often... Quote
Redwarf Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 That's one best answered by Duc..... errrr Datgirl.. :D Quote
99 Posted February 11, 2004 Report Posted February 11, 2004 Oh my gad, I can't believe you're asking ME about the duck thing! You're going to be sorry you asked, but here goes.... On the 2003 interclub challenge nav run, there was a question: "How many ducks?" and it just so happened that there was one of those yellow road signs. You know the one that has on larger duck on it and 2 smaller ducks. Well, we decided to write 3 as the answer. And this was deemed to be wrong beause ducklings are NOT ducks apparently. So, this caused an uproar especially as that question cost us 2nd outright and we came 4th instead. I got on with my life until the next day run. This time it was run by BSCC and it was their end of year fun day. Well, wouldn't you know it, the SAME question was asked (a coincidence??) and we put the same answer. And once again, they deemed us wrong! :D Incidently, we checked the dictionary, a duckling is defined legally as a baby duck (should the question every be asked in a court of law). Anyhoo, it was a fun day, so did not make a big deal of it .... Then some smarty pants thought it would be very funny to include the SAME question yet again on the motor show rally on the weekend! When I was course checking, I swear to God I nearly choked. Someone is trying to really really piss me off!! because they STILL don't think a duckling is a duck. I'm getting pissed off just writing this, so I shall go away think about something else! (curses redwarf for being such a stirrer  ) You did ask!! :D datgirl Quote
demuire Posted February 11, 2004 Author Report Posted February 11, 2004 Well, I suppose if they changed the answer for the same question, they would be admitting that they are wrong, and the people who got the question right in the first instance (not to mention the people who changed their answer...) would make an uproar about why "ducklings" were suddenly considered to be "ducks" (even though in all honesty I recon the answer SHOULD be 3... after all they could be midget ducks or dwarf ducks or maybe they're just further away or something...) Maybe someone should accept defeat and just answer 1 next time :D :D Quote
99 Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 NEVER!!!! I shall go to my grave shouting "THERE WERE 3 DUCKS!!" Quote
demuire Posted February 12, 2004 Author Report Posted February 12, 2004 Haha, how sucky would it be if you did change your mind and they decided that the answer should be 3 instead... Quote
