lexus_kid Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 Hey, I was around my mates house the other day and he got me to have a look at his battery on his ke70. The battery was very swollen and it was making a hissing nosie and leaking a little bit of fluid. We took a reading with a multi meter and the battery was reading 16.7 volts. is this due to the alternator overcharging his battery? (he currently isn't driving the car due to he doesn't want to blow up the battery, which is brand new) Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 woah, I say run it till it explodes but video it. Quote

jono1986 Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 What ever you do don't smoke near it or get any ignition source on it, Hydrogen is dangerous  :P  just rebuild the alternator and buy a new battery....oh and getting the battery the wrong way round when its charged is bad...when it's dead flat you can actually reverse the poles..but stuff the battery up Quote

jono1986 Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 might as well get the full kit, bearings and regulator, theres a place on south road near...umm....Midas......1210 South Road (Cnr Celtic Ave), Clovelly Park, 5042....phone number is Arnold Wischi: (08) 8277-9755. went in there to get mine really easy to deal with, and i'm guessing cause mine is a early 3k yours should be the internal bosch type.
