Hiro Protagonist Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 (edited) must be another tossa in a ricer  people like you make these forums look pathetic come on here to research a project and get replys like this, makes me wonder why one would want to join,if the only advice you can get is sarcasm. :P And you must be another keyboard warrior who has joined the forums for 5 minutes and thinks he runs the place. We get LOTS of n00bs come on here and ask stupid pipe-dream questions which obviously have never been thought over longer than a school lunch-break, and then fly off the handle when someone questions their intent/funds/knowledge. Then there is the old "I obviously haven't searched the forums or read the FAQ, both of which would provide me with the answer to the extremely simple and common question I have asked", or the "I have this random engine lying around, should I put it in my 19xx Corolla?". Almost invariably (and yes there are exceptions), this is a result of too much spare time and not enough actual research (not just posting sweeping generalised questions on a forum, but actually making a definitive list of your options/costs/skills and doing a bare minimum of a feasibility study) Sure, maybe the OP (original poster, since you're so new to forums) actually has thought about it, but the original post in the thread sounded _very_ similar to the multitude of posts that crop up on forums when young dumb teenagers don't have school to occupy their brains during daylight hours. And after a while (stick around, you'll notice it too), the veterans of this forum (and others that I am on) get quite tired of it. Although to the OP I will add - if all you are worried/uncertain about with the conversion is the engine mounts, and reckon you can tackle the rest of the conversion with aplomb, then chances are the engine mounts would be no problem and the least of your worries. curly Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 QUOTE as i said i have a commodore that beats 90% of cars on the road. you,ve spent all that money and you still get beaten by 10% of the cars on the road HAHA Quote
cuzzo Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 (edited) Sometimes these types of questions get defined under the category: If you have to ask, you wont do it/afford it/insert reasoning here. Prove us wrong if you have a problem with the responses. BTW commo v6 in rolla isnt new. Edited December 22, 2009 by cuzzo Quote
silverra23 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I have seen a couple sell on ebay in recent times. Sticking a Commodore engine into a Corolla is obviously going to require some custom fabrication. If you can't figure it out and do it yourself, then get a skilled fabby to come and have a look and do it for you. Just make sure you have a big wallet! Quote
rollasix Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 hey guys i didnt say how much i spent on my commodore and those 10% of cars that do beat me are most likley owned by very rich people or are cars owned by performance shops. all i wanted was some help with my corolla and not to get shit ova my idea, those people who are dumping on me and my idea, I'm not dumpin on their cars at all, and i didnt say that i was gonna have the first v6 in a rolla, just that i didnt want to have another rotary or sr20, not that there is anything wrong with that. philbey Posted December 27, 2009 Report Posted December 27, 2009 Alright guys try not to post anything in here unless you've got some useful, constructive things to say. Just looking at that thread with the KE25 the guy's dropping that motor into, looks like some good pics there. You'll need to fab some mounts obviously, and it looks like that guy went with a new crossmember (I just flicked over it). I'd be guessing that you'll need to chop the floor/firewall to get a bigger box in, and you'll shit diffs or axles once you start ripping burnouts. Quote

azz Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 my mechanic is just finishing putting one in a ke10 could grab some photos when I'm down there next if you need. he ended up welding most of the commodores floor pan into it to make room for gear box and engine and all that Quote
TOM Posted January 27, 2010 Report Posted January 27, 2010 i want to do the conversion because it is something differnt, i live in sa so ill keep the car regested as is and drive it untill i get defected. Great, but please tell me you're at least planning to upgrade brakes and suspension BEFORE you drive this on the road? I know SA laws are easy to get around, but it doesn't give us a license to drive around in defectable, overpowered, under-braked, under-sprung cars. Just my two cents... Quote
