The engine number isnt stamped on the head if its a K motor.

If you have changed the engine block, you will need to provide a reciept for the purchased engine to show its not stolen.

Are you sure... i couldve sworn the number was on the head (4k-c) and the engine # on the receipt for the car and on my roadworthy don't match... id just go out and check but I'm not at home

Its on the block, definitely. Almost every car will have the engine number on the block. Its stamped on a flat metal section and will look something like 4K5245897

this happened to me. the guy i got to do my roady got lazy and just used the eng no off the old rego stocker even though i told him it was a new block.

so now i'm going to get custom plates put on it and i need to go through all my receipts to find the one for the engine and take the car to be inspected for the correct number ect.

it's not a hard thing to do but it's a whole lot of messing around that i wouldn't need to do if it was done right the first time.

the best thing to do it ring up vic roads and ask them what you will need to do to change the number.

so if you do a engine conversion and you lost it what do you do then.

Write up another receipt.

I bought my engine 3 years before i got the mods approved. I lost the receipt so i called up the original engine owner and asked if he minded me writing up another receipt and back dating it. He was fine with it.

Done this a few times. Kangaroosa is right. VicRoads don't check where the receipt comes from. If the mechanic has written the right number at the time of RWC, they don't give a shit. If it doesn't come up stolen they just take it as the mechanic has done their job and rubber stamp it.

I once registered a car that had the wrong chassis number recorded against the reg. a 1 was written as a 7. Had to do a stat dec, then all fine. Didn't have the original engine but that was no probs.

ps I could write a book on the amount of times I've been to VicRoads and something has "come up". Was there this week, but had a nice girl who allowed the 'rolla through no questions. Thank F$%k for that!
