Lowering Ke30 4in!!!!!!! Vn Wagon Shocks

I want to employ my friend Newton. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. So agreed the lower the centre of gravity the less roll. disagreed dropping it 4 inches is the answer! Consider unsprung weight (wheels). Tyre choice/profile. And my Fav see a real spring specialist. stiffen those bastards up with a two inch drop, stop all the twist with braces and cross chassis bars and I guarantee you'll go around corners fast enough to make your fillings fall out! Oh and a great big F^&k off sway bar to absorb the torsional twist.

205/80r14 are huge tyres!!!

DON'T lower your car 4 inches!!! it won't handle well at all. go talk to a sensible suspension shop!!

if your curiosity gets the better of you, get something with coil springs all around, and remove the springs. car will sit on bump stops, then drive it around the block and see what you think. thats a pretty good indication of how well it will handle.

Kylie's ke55 is dropped maybe a bit less than 2" from standard, and we run 195/60r14's on it, looks really nice. with smaller tyres (ie 200/50r13 slicks) it could maybe go another inch tops. It has no load carrying capacity now though, race car only! we have front and rear swaybar, nice shocks, and the stiffest springs we could find (in the garage lol) and it handles pretty neutral in the way of understeer/oversteer.

at the end of the day it is your car, but I don't want any part of it or to be associated with it if you carry out dodgy habib's fully sic 4 or 5 inch lowering job regardless of who you pay to do it.

a certain hyundai excel I owned briefly (alas for too long though) comes to mind.... springs cut that low that it was on the bump stops, and myself driving it up and down parramatta road quite a few times...... everybody thought I was taking the mickey out of someone because I was physically bouncing in the car up and down to the point of hilarity (for onlookers that is) and I very quickly put springs into it!!! and then (not as quick as I would have liked to) sold it!!

well whats every one think i should do???

ive had a think and i don't want a (leb luncher)

how low??

what rear shocks??

Well if you read back through eveyones comments the general consensus seems to be to go a legal drop i.e 2 inches at the most, some decent springs in the front, some reset and maybe an extra leaf in the rear, front and rear decent swaybars, and front and rear strut braces. Effectively this is what i used to have on my own ke30 and it went around corners like nothing else i ever have owned and stuck to the road like shit to a blanket. All it needed was a rear lsd and stiffened up a bit more and some more power and it wouldve been very tail happy.

You asked for info from rollaclub members and they have given there honest opinions and these are tried and true. Listen.

Pretty sure Slo's KE30 is defected, and off the road. last i read it was getting a big engine going in for skidds. so ride height is no problem if its for skidds.

Blocks are crap to a extent. 4" is stupid!! . the amount of leaf twist and roll you would get would be nuts, and axle tramp.

As others have said, go 2" 3" at the most. get good short shocks.

but 3" up front will serverly reduce the amount of travel you will have. recommended getting struts shortened, short strut insert and go coilovers if you really want to be low and handle half good

I think all options have been discussed in the thread mate. We don't know what you want as you keep changing your crazy ideas.

Make your mind up and do it.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

- Get some short stroke shocks for front and rear

- Either cut or buy lowered springs, or get a coilover kit for the front

- Flip leaves, take a leaf out, reset leaves with an added leaf, WHATEVER it takes to get it how you want it.

- If you want, some front/rear swaybars.

- Then... Get a suspension shop to do all of the work for you, or if you're mechanically minded enough, do the work yourself.

Then if you have any questions. Please feel free to ask :)

Settle petal,

They're 15" with Federal 195/50/15's and are COMPLETELY BALD to be exact

That picture was taken in the shed with flipped leaves and 2" blocks. Around how low your 30 will be lowered a hektik 4".

Car was NEVER driven like that, and is probably on a boat somewhere headed for a steel smelter somewhere in south china :P

CHEERS
