Izak Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 is it possible to convert a AE82 Corolla fwd to a RWD? cause i have seen someone convert a FWD hyandai excel into a rwd would it be possible for the corolla??? Quote
ke71-rolla Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 It's possible......but i wouldn't say it is worth the time and effort. Check out the difference between a FWD corolla, like your own, the AE82, and compare it to the AE82 engine bay. Undertaking such a task is a pioneering effort!!!, cheaper, safer, more reliable just to purchase a factory RWD. Although i have seen a video of a RWD Civic.......i believe the engine was moved to the boot of the car :y: Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 1. Cut body off the floor pan 2. Spin body 180degrees 3. weld back together 4.?????? 5. Profit........and instant RWD :y: Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 (edited) .......And end up with a car with 5 reverse gears? :y: And forklift steering....... Sounds......practical.....or not..... Edited December 15, 2009 by Toy-Yoda Quote
Sam_Q Posted December 15, 2009 Report Posted December 15, 2009 it goes along the lines of if you need to ask when needs to be done then you would not be up for what it would take to do the job. Seriously it's a huge project. Quote

I'm yet to see Slo-030 say that to fix that problem you would have to flip themotor 180 degrees and turn the gearbox upside down.... :P Edited December 15, 2009 by Raven Quote

SLO-030 Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 Sounds......practical.....or not..... Sounds like nothing was lost from the fwd setup :locked: But in all seriousness, MASSIVE job. I think it was mentioned here a while ago and one train of thought was to use the running gear/driveline out of an AL25 or AR95 Tercel/Corolla 4wd. But still, MASSIVE JOB. Quote

Izak Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 Its school holidays again isnt it! I am intrigued. Why would you want to make an AE82 a RWD car? umm prbs because i dnt have a AE86 unless ur willing to give me one Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 umm prbs because i dnt have a AE86 unless ur willing to give me one But even with Takumi Tax, the amount of money you'd spend on making an AE82 RWD could buy a fairly neat, non-rust bucket AE86. Although an AE86 isn't really a RWD AE82, they have nothing in common (AE86 is still essentially E7x) Quote
love ke70 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 but he has all the parts he needs now. how could it possibly cost much at all... Quote
