ke71-rolla Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 Yeah they are just stock ra40 LCA's, the bloke i bought them from suggested purchasing some sigma LCA's, saw your thread about the struts, so I'm reasonably confident it should all fit in......just contemplating whether i have the money currently!!! and possibly need to source some sigma LCA's.....upullit it may be Quote

toyota_ae71 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 GH sigma will fit, and corona xt130. IMO don't run sigma's because they give about 3.5degrees of negative camber. Really unless your doing 200km/h and trying to turn, theres no point. I reccommend going xt130, great upgrade and only give around 2 degree's... depending on your ride height. Quote

Falken_KE30 Posted December 23, 2009 Report Posted December 23, 2009 i can say for sure you don't need RA40 tierods to fit RA40 struts in. if your going longer LCA's, i recommend getting KE30 tie rod tubes, and RA40 tierods. you will get more then enough adjustment. you wont have enough "safe" adjustment in stock tierods to accommodate the extra track. KE70 tops, the rest RA40, use RA40 steering arm, also the RA40 LCA is same as the KE30 which is the same as the XT130. SO if you go the whole RA40 setup with LCA's from the 55 then drop it in. Quote
ke71-rolla Posted December 28, 2009 Author Report Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) Sick thanks for that Falken! I've been thinking next about the springs.....considering they would be designed to hold a heavier car, how would they sit on my Ke-70? If i were to purchase a pair of Low King Springs would they lower it, or just revert the car to stock Ke-70 levels? Already been down to car shop, and there is no Super Low option for the RA40 struts, so that rules out that option Thanks guys Ps: Ra40 Tie Rod ends......just grab them from a celica in upi, or buy new? Already been down to car shop, and there is no Super Low option for the RA40 struts, so that rules out that option Thanks guys The idea that "lowered" springs work is that they have a free height of "XXXmm" meaning the physical height of the spring when it is uncompressed. What I suggest you do to measure what height you want your car is to use your stock spring and take a coil off here and there and when you've made a decision about how high you want your car, measure the length of the spring in its cut form. Once you've got them measurements, you can go to a custom spring manufacturer (HERE is one example) and they can make you a set of springs for the exact free height that you desire and the spring rate (stiffness) of the springs you are after. While you're at it, make sure you ask about getting a set of short-stroke shocks for your struts from whichever suspension place you go to. If you keep your stock-height shock absorbers and you fully extend your shock while driving by going over a jump or something (lol) the spring can fall out of it's holder... which isn't good! ke71-rolla Posted December 30, 2009 Author Report Posted December 30, 2009 ah ok, so say if i get a stock RA40 spring, and a stock KE70 Spring, and they are the same height....that means a lowered RA40 spring will actually lower my car? Cheers Quote
ke71-rolla Posted January 15, 2010 Author Report Posted January 15, 2010 Had a look through my handy Gregory's Corolla manual, will i need the Tie Rod and Tie Rod End, or just the Tie Rod End from a ra40? Dankershun!! Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Had a look through my handy Gregory's Corolla manual, will i need the Tie Rod and Tie Rod End, or just the Tie Rod End from a ra40? Dankershun!! You can use tie rod ends and turnbuckle tubes from almost any old toyota such as ke30, XT130, RA40. As long as its got a steering box it will have the correct threads on it all. use the tube and end, it screws onto the ke70 rack end and gives more strength and better adjustment. Also, you will be forced to recentre your steering rack or they wont fit. Quote
